NOTICE: If you are using the "Lever Action Rifle Reload Fix compatible version" of this mod, update now to the latest version of this mod (1.5). There is no longer need for a patch between that mod and this one, and using the old version will lead to possible errors. Please use the latest versions of both mods (if you want to use that mod, if not, that's fine).

Just what I needed. Was doing a low-ammo survival type playthrough and 40-75 ammo doesn't spawn in commonwealth containers. Thank you.

First, I must say I do like this mod. But there is something that really bothers me about your balancing. A 'standard' .45-70 round in real life has close to 50% more muzzle energy than the 'standard' .308. So having the .308 conversion do more damage is wrong. Do what you will with this information, it's your mod after all, this is just something that bothers me.

I love the idea, but before making any changes what-so-ever my damage from the rifle dropped massively (With all perks at high level I was at 232 damage. Mod dropped that to 176). Converting to .50 cal put it back close to where it was originally and since I have many more .50s than 45-70s I'm continuing to use the mod. The only mod I use that effects weapon damage is the "Equilibrium" balancing mod so perhaps it has something to do with that though that mod makes no mention of changes to the LAR. Just thought I would mention it.

Feel free to up or down the damage values in xEdit if it's not suiting up your current load order. You can find the values in the CK, just type "lever" in the search bar and look for the Object Modifications with the caliber names.

Hello. solid work on the mod. I just have one nit pick:

Rifle caliber rounds, due to their typically pointed tips and center fire primers, can not be used in a tube magazine, as the tip of one bullet could strike the primer of the bullet in front of it, and exploding the magazine. Pistol rounds and shotgun shells don't have this issue since their rounded/flat ends are not enough to set off the primer.

So for the sake of immersion, would it be possible to make a version with only .38, .44, .45, 10 mm, and shotguns? Could I do it myself?

    thanks

Yes, you can do it yourself, just delete the constructible object entry for it and it won't appear in the menu

are there any mods that are incompatible with this mod? i have disabled all other lever action mods yet for some reason i still cant get the caliber conversion option to show up in the gun modification bench menu. the only other thing i can think of is that the gun I'm trying to modify is the Peace Pipe made available via the More Uniques Expansion.

any mod that overrides the Lever Action Rifle weapon entry will not work with this without a patch. Load up all your plugins in FO4Edit, look for the Lever Action Rifle weapon entry and see if any other mod is replacing it other than this mod.

Alternatively, your best solution is to put this mod last in your load order.

    Great mod!
Regarding balancing issues: My test character who's maxxed out on everything, does 176 dmg with the .44 Revolver and "only" 149 dmg with the .44 Lever Action conversion.
I can always add the +25% Legendary mod to the Lever Action so it packs more punch than my 44 Revolver, but is there any chance you could up the damage on these by 25% or so? I would especially love to see this mod be a viable option to the Western revolver (The .50 cal conversion does 2-3 more pts dmg than the Western Revolver; a tad low?).
But I love the .44 and .50 calibers, and really "need" a silenced realistic weapon. So THIS mod seems to be the answer, so far (still shuffling through mods lol).

KUTGW if you're "done" working on this mod. Thanks :)

    Endorsed ofc!

I would absolutely love a mod that increases the fire rate. Not sure if its easy/hard to do since its a whole hand animation but i wanna be able to move that lever like John Marston!

The Winchester model 95 lever action did not use the tube magazine. So it could use pointy rounds with out issue. It has a fixed box, top load magazine, and could be ordered in several calibers, 30-40 Krag, 30-'30 gov, 30-'06 Springfield. I for one, would love to see some 30-'06 lever action and bolt action rifles in the game. The 30-'06 is more powerful round than the 308, and preferred for big game hunting. 308 is pretty much a bare minimum for elk and bear in my area. The 30-"06 Springfield is still in use locally for hunting in this area. I would choose 30-'06 over 308 10 times over for sniper weapons.

Ok... What does that have to do with this mod?

The .30-06 is only marginally more powerful than the .308 (less than 50 fps) when loaded to SAAMI specs. What it IS better at is using the very long, heavy bullets, like the big 220-grain bullets you'd use for bears. With normal 160 or 180-ish grain bullets, unless they're copper instead of lead, there is no substantial difference between the two in terms of performance.

Also, what does this have to do with this mod? Did you start out planning to complain about the levergun using 5.56mm and .308 ammo, and just went off on a tangent?

Hi, unfortunately the mod doesn't seem to be working for me and I have no idea why. The only other lever-action mods I have are a texture mod and the reload fix (latest version). The other conversion mod, the redux one, works for me although it doesn't have a .50 conversion so i'd prefer to use yours for the extra damage. If you have any idea why i'm having issues please let me know. I've run LOOT and it doesn't come up with any errors.

EDIT: Nevermind, just looked at your images and realised my mistake. I was looking at the receiver menu when I should have been looking at the separate conversion menu you created. Little confusing but it's all working now.
