Crafting overhaul mods move recipes from the Chem Station to other custom workbenches. If you can't find recipes for crafting these, look where you would normally craft UTILITY items with your crafting overhaul mod.
Some mods add universal secondary options to all furniture and activators. Those may override the secondary options on these items.
The Portable Workbench misc item keeps getting removed from my inventory, resulting in not being able to use the mod until I craft a new one at a Chemistry Station. I suspect this happens when the game thinks that my character is in combat. I would post this issue in Bug Reports but you have not enabled that feature.

I need more info, when you say "keeps getting removed from my inventory" what do you mean? When? Randomly? When using the bench?
When you use the item, the Misc item goes away until you pick the bench up again. It's meant to represent the item being placed into the world, and picked back up again.
I mean that I pick up the workbench but when I go to place it again nothing happens. When I check my inventory the Portable Workbench is missing. If I craft another at the Chemistry Station I can again place the Portable Workbench. To be clear on what the issue is, something is preventing the Portable Workbench from being placed back in my inventory after it is picked up.

Correct on questions 1-4. I have only tested with the portable workbench. I pick it up through the dialog prompt and it is removed from the world but the hotkey can't deploy it again because it is missing from inventory until I craft a new one. Again, this doesn't happen every time. Sometimes I place the workbench in a seemingly secure exterior location and then immediately pick it up again (without selecting a workbench type through the menu) due to seeing an enemy in the distance.
Very interesting. In all the years of this mod being active (9 years, wow) nobody has ever reported that, so it might be hard to pin down. There might be something in your load order that somehow conflicts with inventory. I'll see if I can reproduce, including the enemy in the distance thing. Thanks for the details!
I think this may be tied to another Fallout/Gamebryo bug. The last time this occurred, I picked up the workbench and then couldn't deploy it again. I checked my inventory and it wasn't there. I went to the nearest settlement intending to craft another and found the portable workbench deployed in a previously-deployed position (I then picked it up and it worked normally thereafter). Similar to how placed crops in the settlement workbench menu technically remain where they were originally placed even if you move them, I think the game engine is placing it in its previously placed position due to the game engine, scrip lag or memory issue. Nothing you can do to address that bug, I understand. It might be nice if there were a safeguard, however. Still, a wonderfully useful mod.

through out several playthroughs, fallout reinstalls, I always use mobile mechanic (I love it). But sometimes, I drop it to the ground (or using the hotkey), and it drops NONE. I reload check the save, and yes the portable mechanic is in inventory. But if I drop it it's gone.
But in other saves (long before) or other playthrough save, it works normally as it should.
deestilo it sounds like you have the opposite problem as Maeldun0, who says it drops fine but when they pick it up they don't have anything. You're saying when you drop it, nothing happens?
That would mean the script isn't firing that turns the inventory item, which is odd.
Are you only having this problem with this new version of the mod?
Getting freeze during scrapping (managed to work around this one) however I get a freeze when trying to pickup the bench from ground. I am in the Fort approaching Kellog.
I use High Physics mod, but tried limiting my FPS to 60 using AMD limiter to 60, but also same happens.
Made a backup save at the spot, so lmk if you want to run some tests through me

I figured out my crashes. When you scrap some items, some unrecognized stuff (another mod) was being added to the inventory of the "scrap" menu. You know when you have to scrap and you can choose all or specific items? The specific items is what people refer to as the "inventory". This confused me because i was looking specifically for a "inventory" menu choice. Leaving that here for others (fadingsignal is looking into this and i gave him a detailed explanation)
Only one small issue: I am using FallUI - HUD, FIS, Inventory, etc. While FIS works on every container, workbench, inventory, etc. only the portable workbench, doesn't show icons, every item (only inside the workbench) shows the Descriptions in brackets, i.e. "[Leather][Armor]crude rifle".
Would it be possible to add support for FallUI ?

I don't think that's something I can fix. I'm not doing anything with the menus or naming at all, they're all vanilla / using whatever you have installed. Sounds like FallUI doesn't detect them correctly for some reason? I can look.
OK, please disregard. I installed FallUI - workbench now after the portable workbench, now everything is working as intended. No more [Bracket] thingies, nice symbols !
Can you tell me more about the problem? What options do you see when you hover over it? Do you have any other mods that change the behaviors of the PA workbench?
I can pick up and drop the normal workbench no problem, but dropping the PA one goes fine. I can't pick it up when I'm done though. My only option is to use it and that's all. I don't use any mods that alter the PA stations.
If you scrap or modify your armor in a way that causes spare parts/components to be stored in the bench it will prevent you picking it up in older versions until cleaned out... have you tried checking the transfer option to see if anything is stored on the bench?

I'll see if I can replicate this. Do you have mods that do things like "clean" perks/effects from the player? Other perk redistribution mods or perk resets? This uses a hidden perk to enable secondary activation choices so it's possible another mod is removing it.
Another possibility is that you're running mods that remove the keywords and other identifiers on the vanilla Power Armor workbench causing this mod to not see it as such.

NEO's portable power armor is working. By the way, I wonder if it would be possible to have an ammo manufacturing category in your portable workbenches. Good continuation in 2025
I'm using it in conjunction with AWKCR and the Grilled Cheese/Tuna overhaul, ECO Redux/NEO/LEO all updated, and various other related mods they all work fine together. Probably something from a lesser known mod causing a conflict I would guess... check all the entries in FO4Edit for overwrites?

The scripting has no conditions for re-adding the item back into the inventory so it's shouldn't be related.

Open the console and type
player.hasperk FS_MobileMechanic_PERK_ActivationOptionsPICKUP
If it returns 0 or says "perk not found on player" then type
player.addperk FS_MobileMechanic_PERK_ActivationOptionsPICKUP
