In vanilla Fallout 4, your scavenging stations produce a very low amount of scrap (2 junk items per day, with a 20% chance of collecting no scrap each day). This is just barely above what unemployed settlers not assigned to a scavenging station collect (1 junk item per day). At this rate, scavenging stations are hardly worth it. And surely a person wandering the Commonwealth for a day can pick up more than a pencil and an oven mitt?

I've modified the leveled list that determines what scavengers collect. Now you can increase the amount of junk that your settlers return and reduce the chance of them returning empty handed. This should let you calibrate the productivity of scavengers to a more useful level.

Vanilla Scavenging Stations
2 scrap items per day per manned scavenging station
20% chance of no scrap being collected on a given day
60% chance of common scrap, 30% chance of uncommon scrap, 10% chance of rare scrap

More Productive Scavengers Scavenging Stations
3/5/10/20* scrap items per day per manned scavenging stations
10%/0%* chance of no scrap being collected on a given day
60% chance of common scrap, 30% chance of uncommon scrap, 10% chance of rare scrap (unchanged)
*Depending on the version you install

Configurations
The FOMOD installer, which will run automatically, will let you install the .esp file which corresponds to the settings you prefer.

  • 3 junk/day, 10% chance of no junk
  • 5 junk/day, 0% chance of no junk
  • 5 junk/day, 10% chance of no junk
  • 10 junk/day, 0% chance of no junk
  • 10 junk/day, 10% chance of no junk
  • 20 junk/day, 0% chance of no junk
  • 20 junk/day, 10% chance of no junk

I will also leave the individual .esp files up as older versions so you can just download the one you want and skip the FOMOD installer, if you prefer.

Compatibility/Conflicts
As far as I can tell, this mod is simple enough that it doesn't conflict with many mods. If you have mods that affect how scavenging stations work, this may conflict with them. Please let me know if you discover any issues.

Wishes, Hopes, Dreams
I'd love to do the following to improve this mod, but this is my first mod, so I am very unfamiliar with the Creation Kit and scripting. If anyone can help me figure some of these out, I'd be much obliged.

  • FOMOD Installer to select values for the junk/day and chance of no junk variables, rather than having to download separate .esp files, which seems cumbersome. Done! Thanks Wenderer and Valdacil
  • Raising or removing the cap on junk items in a settlement. According to Fallout Wikia it cuts of scrap collecting when your junk items in the workbench are greater than 100+(population*5). (Thanks Jack Wow for the heads up)
  • Have scavengers bring back mixed junk items, rather than all the same item.
  • Target settlers to look for certain resources (maybe tagged ones?) which would increase the chance of finding those specific resources closer to 100%.
