More Complex Wasteland is a hardcore survival package that adds depth and challenge through realism, and playability through sci-fi tech. It includes physiologically realistic hunger/thirst/sleep for both you and your companion, static and dynamic timescale adjustment, carryweight adjustment, weighted ammunition, and automatic scavenging beacons, plus portable delivery bots to help you lug it all around.

Imp's More Complex Needs - The survival overhaul is built around this physiologically realistic hunger/thirst/sleep mod released previously for Fallout 3, Fallout: New Vegas, and Skyrim. It also allows you to adjust your character's carry weight to something more realistic, optionally adds weight to ammunition, calculates local weather, and adds static and dynamic timescale adjustment.

Portable Delivery Bots - Adds lightweight, portable bots deployed from collapsed grenade pods. Load bots up with excess items, then dispatch them to settlements for delivery. When parked at a workshop they also function as dedicated sorting bots. Mark IV delivery bots follow you, allowing you to loot items directly to their inventory, and pair with settlement Telestorage Hubs that help you distribute the spoils to telelinked settlements.

Trailblazer & Co. Scavenging Beacons - Scavenging beacons that can be deployed in the field to call in scavenging teams from your settlements. They will loot cleared areas, and deliver the spoils to their home settlement's workshop. Recover every sweetroll, bottlecap, and roll of duct tape in the Commonwealth without going elbows deep in a single meatbag.

Over time, this work-in-progress will add features from Powered Power Armor, Ambient Temperature, and Imp's More Complex Needs, along with items and characters from Dunk's Adventure Check back in regularly for updates. Individual subcomponents can be enabled or disabled as desired for modular compatibility with other mods.

Features

Hunger/Thirst/Sleep
  • Companion Needs - Tracks HTS for both you and, optionally, your active companion
  • Food Poisoning - Raw meat and dirty water can cause food poisoning, treatable with crafted antibiotics
  • Temperature-Based Dehydration - Ambient Temperature's calculated air temperature effects dehydration
  • Muscle and Body Fat - Build muscle and burn fat depending on diet and exercise
  • Caffeine and Alcohol - Blood levels of these substances are tracked, giving bonuses and causing blurry vision when drunk
  • Sleep and Fatigue - Physical fatigue builds up over time, requiring periodic breaks from the usual hectic pace
  • Fully Functioning Nutrition Information - Tracks ingested protein, carbohydrates, fat, water, nutrients, and electrolytes
  • Cybernetic Upgrades - Alter your metabolism with surgical implants to do things like slow dehydration and boost muscle growth

Timescale Adjustment
  • Dynamic - Determine timescale contextually, based on location and combat state
  • Static - Control how quickly time passes relative to real life

Encumbrance Adjustment
  • Carry Weight Adjustment - Optionally increase or decrease the amount your character can carry
  • Weighted Ammunition - Enable or disable weighted ammunition outside of survival mode, and scale the weight penalty up and down

Ambient Temperature
  • Calculated Air Temperature - Based on weather data for the Boston area
  • Hourly Weather Announcements - Hourly messages state the temperature, daily highs and lows, and current weather forecast

Portable Delivery Bots
  • Mark I, II, III Delivery Bots - Craft bot pods to carry and deploy miniature robots capable of transporting loot back to settlements
  • Mark IV Delivery Bots - Telestore digitized items for unlimited capacity, and follow your character, letting you loot items directly into their inventory
  • Telestorage Hubs - Grant access to your digitized storage pool, sharing items between settlements and letting you sort things to and from your settlement workshop

Trailblazer & Co.
  • Automatically Loot Areas - Craft beacons that call in scavengers from your settlements to loot the surrounding area and transport it home

Requirements

None. Does not require survival mode.

Compatibility

More Complex Wasteland is fully configurable and should not have compatibility problems with other mods, however weighted ammo, bot sorting capabilities, and looting require leveled list updates to function properly with items added by mods or DLC.

Note: The hunger/thirst/sleep and weighted ammunition are not currently compatible with survival mode, and should be left disabled if you are playing at that difficulty level.

Installation

Extract More Complex Wasteland.esp and .bsa to Fallout 4's Data directory.

Uninstallation

Before uninstalling, click the +More Complex Wasteland+ menu token in the aid section of your inventory, and select "Uninstall" to reset your carry weight to default and remove stored items from deployed bots. Delete More Complex Wasteland.esp and More Complex Wasteland.bsa from your Data directory.

Warnings

  • Retrieve all stored items from bots before uninstalling, or stored items will be lost.
  • Restore your default carryweight before uninstalling, or it will need to be fixed via console.
  • Looting an area can take several minutes, and requires you to remain in the same area or interior cell until the scavenging operation is complete.
  • Looting is an experimental feature, and could potentially cause problems with some quests. It is recommended that you stick to areas listed as "cleared", but a hostile area scan feature is included to support unclearable areas. It also allows you to do questionably unbalanced things like scour Diamond City clean while playing Grognak & the Ruby Ruins on your Pip-Boy, so use it at your discretion.
