-Optional Gold Kit update. If you use Gold Kit download the optional file instead of the main its either or not both. This update adds Gold Kit changes to PCST done by myself. This means all PCST changes remain in tact and if I missed anything present in Gold Kit let me know. The mod only overlaps mine in two files. One the Pipboy Menu header change to correctly display LT/RT for XBOX controllers and the Pipboy Inventory screen which includes the favorites cross when in the Pipboy.
Update 1.0.4
- Addressed issue with Cycle Apparel Damage on armor screen and associated Rollups The ability to Cycle Apparel Damage is still available to those who want it, but the feature is disabled when a subcategory is selected or while in a Rollup.
Update 1.0.3/1.0.3o
-Fixed issue with Rollups not defaulting selection on entry and not restoring the previous selection on exit.
Update 1.0.2b
- Fix Back Button showing up when it's not supposed to, including on the favorite screen and when switching tabs from a Rollup - Optional download DEF_INV default 'Space' = Back instead of 'C' keyboard change only all other changes remain intact.
Update 1.0.2
- Addressed issue with L2/R2 displaying instead of LT/RT and included Defyant's favorite fix posted to the forum.
Update 1.0.1b
- Minor archive update to work with NMM. So using NMM is an option now it should work for those who don't want to install it manually.
Unresolved issues
- Back Button is keyed to the Left Bumper
Ideally it would be the B Button, but I have had no success in doing so as the B Button like Tab lowers the Pipboy. It does however work to back out of screens on top of the Pipboy like the Favorite, Drop, and Inspect menus. Left Bumper is used to Cycle damage types on the Armour screen (addressed in 1.0.4) as well as Component view on the Junk screen.
This will probably not be changed by me. I am happy with the current state of my modifications.
If valdacil chooses to roll these changes into the next update for DEF_UI that is fine with me. My changes address previously unresolved functionality issues more than anything else.
Otherwise my changes to the code may be used freely as long as permission is already obtained from those supporting DEF_UI.
Hello, just wondering if this would fix an issue I have selecting dialogue options with a controller? Not sure if its Def_UI that is causing it, but I'm unable to make any dialogue choices in game, there is nothing highlighted in the dialogue menu when using a controller and I'm only able to press A to advance the conversation and it seems like it picks responses at random when I do.
is this one still necessary? because i just reinstalled Fo4 and DEF_UI without this mod, but i can still use the LT on my controller to back out of the rollup.

LT/RT change the active tab which is not the same as just backing out of the rollup. This mod makes it so LB will close the rollup and also fixes the button prompts on the bottom of the screen. Best to look at the images for a better idea of what it changes.
I just thought people might like to know that I have used this mod without issue to fix the same controller layout bug in Simplified Sorting, even though that mod doesn't use DEF_UI (It replicates all of the necessary stuff itself).
I can't believe I never came across this until now. I've been playing thru pc and steam link with a controller for a few years now and while i could use the share/capture button to back out of sub menus it was still sometimes annoying. Man having this makes it work flawlessly now. Thanks so much for this!! (Even if i'm way late in discovering)
Just wanted to say that this issue was the last little problem nagging me for my controller-based modding setup, and this mod solved it fantastically for me. Endorsed and thank you!
Awesome! This seems to work really well, even with Horizon. It also fixes an issue I had, when upon entering a submenu, the top most item wouldn't be the one selected, but rather some item further down the list, which was annoying.
So thank you very much for making and sharing this.
@tjwoosta I made a super basic patch for Gold Kit. All I did was apply the pcode changes here on top of Gold Kit. Nothing else was changed.
@ngliii74 If you want to upload it here, then go ahead. Once it's added I'll delete my mod page. I didn't know how else to send it to you.
As far as I know, Gold Kit doesn't make any changes to ActionScript. Most of their changes are in the sprites folder.
I tested the patch just long enough to see the code changes and Gold Kit colors. It's 4:30AM right now, so I'm going to sleep. I'll play with it more when I get a chance.
Since it continues to be a request I looked at it and patched in what I felt was needed to preserve both mods. I did make some minor changes to icon colors on the screens I touch as it didn't make sense to me to have one icon (radiation) be a different shade of yellow/gold from the others.
@ngliii74, Regarding the problem of INV:Apparel roll-up not working because of LB being used for Cycle Damage. Do you think it's possible to disable Cycle Damage while in a Roll-up? Or, completely disable Cycle Damage all together? It's cool to Cycle Damage but I don't really use it, I'd rather be able to back out with LB.
The only thing I can't seem to fix is the Xbox controller dialogue controls. Dialogue appears, but seems there are no mapped keys on the controller to select a line. Anyone elese experiencing this?
