About this mod

This mod attempts to give Danse supporters a way to wear his holotags as a necklace instead of just keeping them in a pocket or safe. That's the spirit behind this mod anyway. Expanded to include craftable generic dog tags as well.

Description:

~Purpose~

This mod attempts to replace NEW instances of most dog tags and holotags in the game with wearable versions.  Most notably Danse's holotags, as was the original inspiration behind this mod, as well as Brotherhood of Steel holotags and standard dog tags.  (I didn't bother replacing the other named BoS holotags that can be found in the game because it seemed fairly pointless to me, so those remain untouched.)  Note that the vanilla “junk” dog/holotags already in your inventories are not affected.

~Honoring Paladin Danse~

If you're out to get a copy of Danse's Holotags after installing the current version of this mod, you'll need to load a save prior to starting Blind Betrayal, or else no holotags will be given/lootable.  (Of course if you like playing with fire, there's always console commands to get the wearable version.)

~Craftable~

Generic wearable dog tags can be crafted at Chem Stations for the low cost of 3 steel and one nuclear material each.  This ability was added mainly for those who use loot overhauls, other mods that edit the leveled lists the original dog tags appear in, or just don't have the time to scour the Wasteland looking for a newly generated set of wearable tags.

~Modifiable~

Additionally, these new wearable tags can be renamed and modified at armor workbenches to adjust the 'sizing' (ie attempting to address clipping with various outfits/armors), and can even be made to not glow.  There are currently 5 different sizes for males and 3 for females.  Included are sizes optimized to work with Maxson's Battlecoat, the Vault-tec Security Vest, and the requested NCR Veteran Armor by DogtoothCG and Unoctium.  More might be added if requested/needed.

~Feeling Lucky?~

Assuming that you don't use mods that conflict with the "Small Junk" leveled list, you might be 'lucky' enough to receive a special set of dog tags.

Installation:
Just take the 3 files in the archive and copy them to your Data folder.  Make sure to enable the .esp in the Mods Load Order menu.  If you are upgrading from version 1.2 then all you need to do is replace those files with the updated ones.  (I realize I was stupid with the file naming of the .esp – noob mistake.)  If you are upgrading from the Old WIP version of this mod, then you might want to uninstall it completely since its relatively useless now.

Conflicts:
This mod does edit some leveled lists, so that wearable dog tags may be looted/purchased in place of the old vanilla “junk” versions.  This of course means that it might conflict with loot overhauls or mods that otherwise edits the leveled lists.  In these cases, just make sure you give those mods priority in your load order.  If you do you won't be able to loot/buy the wearable dog tags of course, but that's why I made them craftable at chem stations.

Compatibility:
Now compatible with Legendary Modification.  All dog tags have been slotted so that they may receive legendary effects.

Known Issues:
  • The glow/no glow modification is a little touchy.  If at any point you remove the glow from tags and then wish to restore the glow, you'll need to make sure that the chain size is set back to the "01 default" size

in order for the material to swap properly.
  • Sometimes equipping a mask will make the dog tags invisible, more often on female npcs than males for some reason.  I have no flipping idea why.  Your mileage may vary.
  • I've noticed that the exact positioning of the tags and chain varies depending on whats being worn, and I've yet to figure out exactly whats going on.  That however is more of a nit-picky detail.

To do list:
  • Add more/better pictures
  • Try to make the chain texture look a little less crappy
  • Make tweaks to the mesh depending on further tests and feedback
  • Look into adding physics so that the tags aren't static (but no promises).

Want to give Feedback?:
I'm open to suggestions, terrible clipping reports, and requests; but before being overly critical please consider that I'm still learning this stuff. :,)

Preemptive Q and A:
"Why are there more sizes for men than women?"  I'm sure I'll be asked that, I've already seen comments expressing concern when there were two sizes for guys and just the one for women.  The simple answer is because I don't have any female characters so therefore I'm not familiar enough to know what sizing would be useful.  I'm open to suggestions/feedback to fix excessive clipping for favorite armor/clothes.  I don't want to seem like a jerk, I'm just clueless.  ^^;

Credits:
Some thanks needs to be given to Tumblr user @yuhimebarbara who indirectly gave me the idea to make this mod based on a reblogged post.  Thanks also goes to Nexus users Rusey and jenkinspotatoe for various suggestions that pointed me in the right directions with this mod.

Mod itself would not be possible without:
  • Bethesda
  • 3ds Max
  • Nifscope
  • Material Editor
  • PhotoShop
  • Creation Kit
  • FO4Edit

Thanks for reading.
