Wasteland Melody's Chinese Assault Rifle
Version 1.0

Miss the classic FO3 Chinese Assault Rifle? Well, so did I!

This mod adds a brand new Chinese Assault Rifle to Fallout 4, complete with mods and full levelled list integration. The rifle is a re-imagining of the original Fallout 3 weapon, purpose-built for Fallout 4. Everything has been remade from scratch, with brand new meshes and textures built around Fallout 4's new PBR engine.

The rifle comes with a basic set of mods with (almost!) entirely new meshes and textures:

Receivers:
-Standard (automatic)
-Hardened (auto, improved damage)
-Powerful (auto, better damage)
-Advanced (auto, superior damage) Marksman (semi-auto, better damage)
-Hardened Marksman (semi-auto, superior damage)
-Powerful Marksman (semi-auto, excellent damage)
-5mm Converted (auto, better damage, better fire rate, 5mm ammo)

Barrels:
-Standard (regular length)
-Snub (short, better fire rate, poor accuracy / recoil)

Grips/Stocks:
-Folding stock (standard)
-No stock (reduced weight, better hip fire, poor sighted accuracy / recoil)
-Solid stock (better recoil)
-Marksman's stock (superior recoil, better aim with scopes)

Scopes:
-Ironsights
-Reflex scope (vanilla mesh, sadly)

Muzzle:
-Muzzle brake (better recoil)

Everything has been balanced to make the Chinese Assault Rifle a higher-tier, more end-game weapon. It will start appearing commonly at level 28, but can be found at earlier levels as well.

Following its real-world inspiration, the Chinese Assault Rifle has high damage but stiff recoil, requiring a lot of wrangling to keep it on target during sustained fire. The Marksman (semi-auto) variant is fast and powerful, outstripping similar weapons like the Combat Rifle in pure damage output, but boasts significantly less accuracy and handling than its peers, especially at long range.

The rifle has been added to the appropriate levelled lists with carefully curated variants appearing for each faction. Raiders can be found with chopped-down short-barrelled versions for run-and-gun ambushes, Gunners utilise the long-barreled and extended-stock semi-auto version for sniper attacks, and Super Mutants can be found wielding the heavy-firepower automatic versions.

Future Additions:

Mods:
-Kobra-inspired red-dot sight
-PSO-inspired 4x scope
-Drum magazine
-Fast (coupled) magazine
-Suppressor (PBS1 style)
-Slant muzzle brake
-Heavy (LMG) barrel
-Integrally-suppressed barrel (think AS-VAL or Vintorez)

More:
-Additional in-world placements

Known Issues:
-Animation uses the Submachine Gun animation, which is notorious for clipping through the side of the gun. It's not great. Once I can build/use a better animation, I will!
-The point-of-aim on the ironsights is ever-so-slightly low, which can make for some annoying misses. Still working on this. You can aim a bit high to compensate, or just roll with it as a quirk of a gun with questionable wasteland maintenance. The reflex sight is spot-on, so you can also just use that.

If you find any bugs/issues, or think the gun could use some balance tweaks, please let me know!

Special thanks to everyone over at r/falloutMods who helped me navigate some of Fallout 4's new challenges, and I hope you all enjoy!
