I have officially moved on from Nexus modding. All of my mods are free to use, modify, patch, compile, etc. however you see fit, just credit me. I will not be responding to messages - do whatever the hell you want, just don't ask me!
Woohoo, still working as advertised, with the new Next-Gen Update ! Works perfect! \o/ ♥
Workin' perfect! (Steam, Manual install) Almost nine years now, and still fighting the good fight, this mod, hehe! THANK YOUagainmm137, for a hella awesome essential mod! And THANK YOU for all the time and work you put into this mod, and its years of service (and all your other mods too!)! A must have in 2015 and even more so in 2024 for the Next-Gen Update !! \o/ ♥
For anyone interested in Manual Install instructions:
Manual Installation:
Download the Main File 'Improved Map with Visible Roads 2.0' and extract the archive.
You will get a folder named: 'Improved Map with Visible Roads 2.0-1215-2-0'
Inside this folder, you will have seven other folders (six of these are your choices):
01 Improved Map with Visible Roads - Default 01 Improved Map with Visible Roads - Default - Regions and Grid 02 Improved Map with Visible Roads - Darker 02 Improved Map with Visible Roads - Darker - Regions and Grid 03 Improved Map with Visible Roads - Even Darker 03 Improved Map with Visible Roads - Even Darker - Regions and Grid fomod[ignore this folder; relating to NMM/Vortex/MO2]
Inside each of the six folders is a folder named 'Textures'.
Choose one of the six 'Textures' folders, and place in your Fallout 4 Data folder: (...\steamapps\common\Fallout 4\Data)
Open your 'Fallout4.ini' file, located in your: (...\Documents\My Games\Fallout4)
Find this line: sResourceDataDirsFinal
Replace with this (if it's not already done): sResourceDataDirsFinal=STRINGS\, TEXTURES\
Save. Done.
Also, if you have all/any of the DLCs, do the same with the Optional Files (ie. Far Harbor, Nuka World).
Thanks for this! It wasn't working for me when I installed it with MO2, but now it's fine. I really appreciate it when people like you take a minute to explain stuff to people like me, who aren't modders or programmers. I have no idea how scripts work and I don't know what an .ini is or what it does, but I can follow simple instructions. Thanks for breaking it down.
Anyone know how to get this to work with Aigni's ultrawide mod? The map shows up just fine, but it's entirely too small. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
When I use this mod the map looks great but I have to click on locations multiple times to trigger the fast travel prompt. If I click too quickly then it will often result in the game crashing. Anyone have any ideas?
What do you mean? These are maps for the Commonwealth, Nuka World and Far Harbour areas, not London. Unless you mean that the Atta-Boy was ported into Fallout 4, in which case it would work as Pip-Boy replacers do not touch the map textures.
this mod is causing instant CTD for me randomly. Ive only had it happen in boston. roaming around boston is pretty abominable as is so maybe its just my pc being slow? but in any sense reading through the crash logs this is the mod that caused it
There is a mr handy in boston. if you walk up to him and start spamming interact, the game crashes and the logs reference this mod having an access violation. so dont spam interact the mr handy in boston. idk I was bored.
Hello, I would like to know if there is a way to change the color of the map when we are inside the armor, this orange color is extremely irritating, thanks in advance!

Hey, I have to ask… what do you mean "every mod-manager doesn't work on your computer"? How do they "not work"? I'm genuinely curious as they are incredibly lite apps.
Sadly the mod dont work for me at all. I only see the vanilla map and i tried it both ways, install it manually or using Mod Organizer 2. Every of the 48 mods is working, except this map mod. And I know older Versions worked, because I used it in the past.
// added "bInvalidateOlderFiles=1" into the MO2 ini-Editor, thanks to MortalTurkey
To add onto this, just in case you're a noob like me and don't want to sit there for hours trying to figure it out. To get to the right location using MO2 click on Tools > Tool Plugins > INI Editor. From there, choose the fallout4custom.ini and then scroll down about 2/3 of the way until you find [Archive]. In that section you should see bInvalidateOlderFiles=0. Change that to bInvalidateOlderFiles=1 and then click save and load up the game.
Using the the MO2 INI Editor method worked for me. I had made those changes on the INI files inside my installation folder without success, but doing it through MO2 did it for me.

Do some research and apply a bit of critical thinking to what other mods you have installed.
This is just a texture file which had its contrast adjusted.
That is all. It does not change icons, or fast travel, or your combat zone or any other of a bazillion things that F4 mods do.
If you want, you can even adjust it yourself, in any modern graphics program.
So, before creating a comment, or even worse, entering something into the bug list or forum, check your other mods.
Can you customize this mod for me to suit my overly specific request?
No.
Can you add a bunch of extra stuff that will make this mod buggy, script-heavy, and messy?
No.
Can you make this unrelated mod I thought of?
No.
Can you make a patch for X mod?
If I use it, maybe. If not, no.
Will you bring this mod to consoles?
If possible, yes. If not, no.
This mod is pointless, and I'm going to explain why at length.
Don't bother. Also, this is not a question.
This mod is not lore-friendly, and I'm going to explain why at length.
See above.

I installed it with vortex and after un- and re- and again uninstalling, the map is still the mod's one
Can someone help me please?
