Adds some of the camouflage and service uniforms used by the German military in the Second World War, into the game, most notably the SS camo patterns and the black Allgemeine-SS uniform.

Update- 12/19:

Been a while since I updated the mod, but the silence is a result of too much OT, focusing on getting my 10mm pistol retexture finished, and trying to work out how to make this standalone. It's something that's apparently not too difficult, but I haven't had the time to really look into it yet, but it's something I *am* working on. If I'm successful, I'll be changing the download format and releasing them all as one big package and you can choose what you want to spawn in game via the console or purchase through a vendor. I'll be concurrently releasing the other uniforms like the splinter camo, etc, as I won't have to do it piecemeal. 



UPDATE- 8:09pm, 12/8:

Done uploading for the night, have the Allgemeine, Feldgrau, Feldgrun, and the Oak-B fall/spring pattern uniforms all uploaded. Splinter camo will be in the next day or two, as will the denazified versions of the SS uniforms. 

***I uploaded a bat file you can download, drop in your main Fallout 4 directory, the one where \Data is located, but not IN the \Data folder, then bring up the ingame console and enter "bat uniforms". It'll give you both sets of Army Fatigues, both helmets, and both hats, regardless of what you have installed, so if you don't have anything installed to overwrite the Airship Captain's Hat, you'll be getting that instead of an SS peaked cap. I know remembering the item ids for all this can be a pain (it is for me at any rate), so if you need it, I've obliged. 


UPDATE- 12:15pm, 12/8:

The new Oak-B fall and spring uniforms are live! The uniforms themselves as well as their respective helmets are included. They'll replace both the Army Fatigues and Dirty Army Fatigues. Should install fine with the NMM, but see the readme for more detailed instructions if you want to mix and match with other content. 

Allgemeine tunic is coming out in a bit with the hat, as well as the gray and green tunics. Expect the deNazified Allgemeine tunic later this evening, potentially the camo as well. 


UPDATE: 12/7:

Like to take a moment to remember what happened 74 years ago today, when the Germans Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor and brought the US into the war, which of course led to the development of the Atom Bomb, atomic fueled cars, Mr. Handy, and Vault-Tec. In all seriousness, though, WW2 sucked for everyone involved, and we shouldn't ever forget just how much that level of carnage blows bigtime. Onto the update:

Alright folks, the next update goes live at around noon Central Time tomorrow! Each package will include two designs, either the fall and spring Oak-B camouflage, or the two separate variants of the splinter camo. Each will overwrite both the Army Fatigues and the Dirty Army Fatigues, so for instance, the Oak-B package will have the fall variant overwriting the Army Fatigues and the spring variant the Dirty ones, etc. 

The same goes for the helmets; one version of the texture will overwrite the Army Helmet, the other one the Dirty Army Helmet.
 Each download package will feature the two helmets already included. It will also feature both the Feldgrau and Feldgrun peaked caps.

The black SS tunic, hat, and helmet will be released as its own download. If you want to combine it with any of the others, just rename the files to overwrite the ones you want replaced, and drop them in the appropriate folders. 

The Feldgrau and Feldgrun tunics will be coming later in the day as I need a bit of time yet to finish testing and tinkering with the maps. Their releases will also include the relevant peaked caps. 

The versions of the SS tunics and hats without the Nazi insignia will be released later in the day on the 8th.  I've put special effort into obliging those who wanted them, and they need a few final tweaks before I'm satisfied. Rendering stitching individually is a massive pain in the arsch. 

An updated readme with all the new instructions and data will be posted. 

A more detailed list of updates and pictures will be uploaded immediately before I put the files up.

12/2: WOW! 100 endorsements. Never thought I'd see the day I feel a sense of genuine accomplishment, but the level of effort I put into this stuff is clearly worth it to all of you, which is great. You guys rock. 

The files should drop right into your \Data folder in the Fallout 4 folder. Of course, make sure you have the sResourceDataDirsFinal=STRINGS\, textures\, meshes\, scripts\, sound\, music\, misc\, shadersfx\, interface\, programs\, materials\  line present in your Fallout 4.ini file. This is for manual installation, the easiest if you want to pick and choose which uniforms you want to replace what. 

At present the mod(s) can be installed via the NMM, but if you want to combine the various skins it's best to take the few seconds to change the files manually. All you need to do is navigate to the \Data\Textures\ folder in your Fallout4 directory, and open the folder for whichever files you want. The field scribe materials are in a folder named as such under \Armor, the hats are under \Clothing\Hats (surprise), and the uniforms under \Armor\Fatigues. The files that can possibly be replaced are the three named armyfatigues_d/s/n and armyfatiguesdecayed_d/s/n. This allows you to have two uniforms in game at once. If the files and folders don't exist already, never fear, the file trees are in the download folders! They should drop right in. 

At this time I strongly encourage people to install the mod manually. As it grows larger and more complex it becomes increasingly difficult for me to make packages that include multiple uniforms, short of having a few dozen combinations uploaded which I simply don't have the time to do. Thanks in advance for understanding!

An installer of some sort WILL be released at some point, but right now I'm more focused on rolling out the content. From the December 8 release onward, I will be including a .bat file with the downloads to spawn all of the items in game. 

From this point onward, all textures will be in 4k if they were originally 2k, and at least in 2k if they were less than that, the helmets are presently the only exception, and I'm leaving them at 1k (up from half that) as they're neither large enough nor detailed enough to warrant larger textures in my opinion. All of my textures are also uncompressed, because compression sucks bigtime. The only thing I despise with compression more than compressed textures is compressed audio, which makes me want swallow a flashbang. If you want quality, you invest the space for it. I understand that it adds to system resource drain, and if there's enough demand for compressed versions, I'll upload them, but otherwise everything will be uncompressed and therefore sizeable. I already know this is going to haunt me as soon as I upload the files, but for the time being things will remain as they are. 

****Truncated Glossary of Terms:*****
I prefer to use as correct terms as possible when referring to historical content, and often that necessitates the use of foreign words either directly or transliterated into English. In the case of this mod, here are the most commonly used terms that you'll encounter. Hopefully this will clear up some of the confusion I've seen between what constitutes the Army, the Wehrmacht, the SS, etc. This makes my life easier when people request certain uniforms done, I don't have to guess whether or not they're referring to the Army, the Luftwaffe, the SS, etc.; help me help you. ;)

1.)Heer- The German Army. The summation of most of the land forces deployed in the field by the Wehrmacht in the Second World War (exceptions being the Fallschirmjäger, the Hermann Goering Division of the Luftwaffe, the Brandenburgers, etc.). Most commonly referred to as the Wehrmacht, which is misleading.

2.)Wehrmacht- The overarching body of the entire armed forces of the Third Reich; the Heer, the Luftwaffe, and the Kriegsmarine. 

3.)The SS/Waffen-SS- A political/military force, separate from the Wehrmacht, which owed its absolute obedience ultimately to Adolf Hitler, not the OKW (the head body of the Wehrmacht, which replaced the Ministry of Defense, though nominally lead by Hitler). Its forces weren't considered part of the Wehrmacht, though when deployed in the field, they came under the overall command of the OKW. You can see how this was inherently flawed. 

4.)Allgemeine-SS- The purely political body of the SS. They wore the black uniforms most associate with the SS and the Gestapo. Ranks in the Allgemeine ("General" in German, not the rank though, which is General...go figure) SS had no formal military equivalent, and upon the assumption of war status in the Third Reich, the Allgemeine-SS was reduced to an administrative rump responsible for maintaining the organization while the bulk of its members were serving in the field, and thus were outside the SS' formal control. Again, this system was destined for failure. 

5.)Feldgrau- The darker gray shade that uniforms from 1938 onwards displayed most commonly; typically the first thing that comes to mind when thinking of Wehrmacht uniforms, as both the SS and the Heer used the color. 

6.)Feldgrun- The lighter, greener shade of uniform that was more prevalent before 1938. Always featured the dark bottle green collar, which fell out of use as the war drew on to conserve materials and simplify production. 



If you don't agree with the content of the mod, that's your prerogative and I won't begrudge you that. I invite you to browse for other mods that are more to your liking. If you come to register complaint about the content or particularly insult those who download it, you'll get banned from my files, and I have a lot of content coming that's not Nazi-related. Constructive criticism and suggestions are most welcome, but I won't let people clog my mod's discussion with insults and pedantic ideological arguments. 

If you have any suggestions I welcome them, and I appreciate any feedback you have to offer. I've had a ton of fun with this so far and I hope that others can appreciate the work I've put into it so far. THave fun! If you want to use these in your own mods, I welcome that, just please give me a shoutout in the credits. 

I work 12 hour shifts, Friday through Sunday, and often OT during the rest of the week, so I try to squeeze in as much time as I can to get content done. A typical day off I will spend at least four hours working on various mods, quite often at least twice that. I get things done as fast as I can without sacrificing quality.



Update 12/3:

*The only uniforms and hats I'll be releasing in "de-Nazified" variants are those of the SS; the black, feldgrau, and feldgrun uniforms. The Heer uniforms just don't display nearly as prominently the swastika or other overt symbols of the Third Reich such as the Totenkopf (though that predates the Third Reich by centuries, the association is strong enough for it to be illegal in Europe, thus I remove it for those who wish it), and while the changes would be minuscule in visible effect, the amount of work required to pull them off in such a fashion that they don't draw attention to themselves just doesn't justify the changes. Besides, I'm trying to cut down on the file size of the download packages, and going from three uniforms each for the SS and the Heer to six each just doesn't make sense given that the Heer uniforms won't be substantially different. I've also not found source material that I feel good enough about to modify or use to replace the woven Reichsadlers and swastikas on the Heer uniforms, whereas the metal pins on the SS hats and the woven collar tabs were far easier and more *visible* to replace, and therefore more drastic in effect. 

At present I have no plans to release de-Nazified variants of the Heer uniforms as I see no point in doing so. I'd rather spend the time to bring requests out, such as the Afrika Korps uniforms and the leather trenchcoats I've gotten a ton of requests for. As always, thanks for your continued support and understanding. 

Update 12/2:

*The black SS cap has been reworked as planned with a real metal eagle and Totenkopf in place of the flat texture I had previously. This had been irking me for some time, but I couldn't find suitable material until recently.

*I have finally decided on the symbols to use in place of the SS Sig runes and the various swastikas. I've had very good suggestions ranging from using the pre-Nazi Imperial German material, to using content from other games. The last bit is ironic on many levels given my other projects at the moment, which is why I demurred. I've selected a range of other eagles, runic and heraldic content to replace the SS collar tabs, Reichs- and Parteiadlers, and swastikas on the uniforms. In some cases they were used in place of the SS runes on actual uniforms, and while they're not totally devoid of Nazi connotations, they're both quite good looking but more importantly suffer the same problem as most of the other material I had suggested; so much these days is connoted with Nazism in some way shape or form. A cursory (and repugnant) search of modern neo-Nazi imagery and icons reveals that every one of the ancient runes has been appropriated by some group to avoid censorship of cringeworthy quasi-Nazi ideology, as have the non-Nazi Imperial German eagles, insignia, etc. Please understand that in all honesty, short of leaving the uniforms blank, which I simply won't do, there's no way to perfectly eliminate or avoid reference to the Third Reich. I've done an awful lot of work for you guys who don't want blatant or overt Nazi symbolism on the uniforms, I could call it quits and leave the things blank, but you guys deserve an alternate and still interesting offering than the regular content, and I'm doing all I can to oblige. 

*With all that said, I've done more work towards coming up with a more complete aesthetic for a Nazi-esque faction to add to the game. I'm doing that within the context of this mod presently (as it'd be both lazy as hell and utterly predictable to use the exact same heraldry and insignia as the Third Reich), so feedback on the detail of the newest batch of uniforms is appreciated as it helps me gauge how much work to put into each one. The denazified versions of the uniforms can be considered a preview of the basis for things to follow, not an exact copy. 

Update 12/1:

      *The black SS tunic has gotten its final revision. As they grow more complex and get past fifty or so layers, the program starts behaving unpredictably and not working/rendering layers that aren't there anymore/not processing changes, and I couldn't get the boots on the texture to shine the way I wanted, so they're matte black now. It's a compromise, but please understand that for whatever reason, the game engine didn't want to render the chrome like reflectivity you'd expect from highly polished jackboots. They no longer have a screwed up specular map that is cloudy and washed out, and I'm leaving it at that so that I can continue onto more content. At some point in the future I *may* take another crack at the boots but honestly, nobody looks at them anyway so I'm not overly concerned. 

Update 11/30:

*Gray and Green Waffen-SS and Heer field tunics done. The Green M35 tunic has the bottle green collar. As there isn't a model in game with the proper stand up collar for the actual uniforms, I've made the open collar that the fatigues have, bottle green like the true collars; until we can edit/create meshes it's the best I can do, folks. In bigger news, I've both fixed the specular map issues with the boots on the black Allgemeine-SS tunic. It isn't a gray blank reflection anymore, I spent a few hours rebuilding the textures from the ground up using various leather textures and photos of some pieces I own myself to create as accurate as I can, with proper laces, eyelets, differing leathers, fully textured boot soles with hobnails, and the proper stitching on them, as well. I've got the peaked caps for the feldgrau and feldgrun tunics done as well. The Allgemeine tunic will feature black jackboots as best I can manage with the model I'm working with, too. 

*All of the specular and bump maps on the uniforms are fixed to greatly tone down the reflections and depth of the wrinkles and bumps on the fabric, but the insignia, rank, and medals are being given deeper and far more fine tuned maps, rendered at 8k then downscaled separate from the rest of the uniform. You can see the threads on the rank insignia and uniform eagles.

Hold on to your butts! The 4k black uniform is up. Changes from the 2k version include:
*Upscaling (obviously)
*Added a gabardine texture to the entire garment to both add detail and make it more authentic. Separate pieces of the outfit have their own patterns.
*Added authentic buttons
*Added the real pockets! None of that rumpled shit. 
*Photoreal belt, buckle, decorations, and super detailed collar tab and rank. The rank has been substantially upgraded, too. 
*The bump maps were rendered at 8k and then downscaled to 4k for some extra fidelity. 
*The overall shinyness of the outfit was toned down considerably and now the gabardine texture has the super fine reflections on each fabric you'd expect. 
*White piping on the collar.
*Stitching on all the seams, as the real uniforms had. 
*Much better shirt and tie underneath, have really deep mapping to make them stand out a lot.
*Shadowing on buttons, pockets, the decorations and pins, the shirt and tie to give the entire outfit depth. 
*The outfit is black rather than a washed out deep blue. Took a lot of fiddling with the base color, subsequent texturing, and the maps to get the effect. 
*Quite proud of how it turned out, let me know your thoughts, folks. 
Be warned, the file size is large (obviously), but I think it's worth it. Pair the outfit with the 2k hat I made!

2.1a The first hats are in! 2k resolution and absolutely beautiful, check the pictures out! 

2.1 Update 11/18- 
*Leather Belts!!!!!! All uniforms now feature leather belts complete with photoreal SS officer's buckle and stitching. 
*Added specular and normal maps to all uniforms and helmets. All specular and normal maps are 2k instead of 1k. Looking into upgrading to 4k as an optional download.
*Touched up some of the details on the camo tunics; pockets and different sides of the tunic have separate patterns, they're no longer a continuous one overlaid on the tunic.
*Added the black Allgemeine-SS tunics. Not doing any armbands at the moment because I'm treading on thin ice as it is. Consdiering it for a later date. 
*Added the standard Feldgrau Waffen-SS tunic.
*All tunics and helmets come in versions both with and without the Sig runes and the swastika, so feel free to choose which you prefer. 
*All tunics now feature the Knight's Cross ribbon on the chest.
*Removed the sleeve rank from the camo tunics. It wasn't rendering as I'd hoped; looking into restoring it at a later date. More focused on getting more patterns out right now. 
*The black Allgemeine tunic features the Honor Chevron on the sleeve. Until more sophisticated tools are available, this will render on both sleeves. Not the end of the world, just thought it worth mentioning. 




For those who want the uniforms without the swastikas and totenkopfs, instead of leaving them blank (and therefore boring and uninspired), I'm replacing them with a suitable substitute to keep the aesthetic but avoid most/all of the Nazi connotations, depending how much you want to read into it. I'm honestly trying to cater to as many people as possible, folks, so please keep an open mind. 

The release on 8 December will be a big one; I'm going to be including multiple types of uniforms for installation all at once, so you can have them in game all at once as opposed to just one type. Gotten many requests for that, and I am delivering. 

I cannot guarantee that I'll have a workable NMM installer for the upcoming release. I'm trying to figure out how to make one that's easiest for picking and choosing what you want to install, but for the time being if you guys really want to get creative with your mixing and matching, you'll have to rename the files manually. It's *really* quick and simple to do, but I understand a lot of people are either uncomfortable or unfamiliar with all that. I promise I'm working on an installer, folks. 

Started preliminary work on the trenchcoats that people have been asking for. Don't have a timeframe for them yet, please bear with me, folks. Other things like a reskinned Field Scribe outfit, Courser uniform, and Power Armor textures are on the back burner, but they're cooking. 

The camouflage tunics in multiple patterns are coming out, hopefully with the 8 December release. They will likewise be in 4K. Please understand that the detailed work I put into these 4k textures takes hours for each one, especially since most I have to start entirely over and rebuild from blank texture patterns up, but it's worth it for you guys. 

In the works by anticipated release date:

*The Spring and Fall Oak-A pattern helmets and tunics will be released on 8 December. Work on them is finished. I started from scratch with the helmets, added the proper fabric texture to them, redid the individual pieces of fabric so they're more realistic than a continuous texture over the entire thing, I've added accurate stitching to them, and corrected the normal and specular maps so that they don't shine in the sun. They're camouflaged fabric, they aren't supposed to shine...at all. That'd be very bad. 
*The final update for the black Allgemeine-SS tunic in 4k will be released on 8 December. It's done but it took a gargantuan effort to overhaul as the sheer number of layers and details I had crammed into that project file severely bogged down GIMP. The entire project file is over 500mb in size, all for a 50mb texture.
*Based on feedback, may touch up the maps on some of the uniforms to make them either more or less detailed...some look a bit more raggedly than would be expected in WW2 Germany, on the other hand, this is the wasteland and you've probably scrapped all your clothes irons by now. 
*The peaked officer's hats in 2k (double the original) will be released on 8 December. There will be the black Allgemeine hat, field gray and field green SS and Heer hats. The green and gray hats will be coming with both white piping for the infantry, or green piping and the edelweiss insignia for the Gebirgsjäger (mountain troops). 
I will be restoring the field scribe hat to the download package as soon as I'm done touching up some of the textures and maps, as well as making a few new versions with details like the Eidelweiss. Expect a similar release to the hats and helmets; camouflage versions and field gray caps for the Gebirgsjäger. Anticipated on 8 December.
*Heer splinter camouflage, blurred edge, sumpfmuster, and the Fallschirmjäger splinter camouflage (a favorite of mine) are coming in tunics and helmets. I'm anticipating a release date for the Fallschirmjäger camo of 8 December, if I can't make that date with the others, they will be released by the 10th. 
*Officer's leather trenchcoats will be in by Christmas. Will update with a more concrete date as work progresses; leather textures are a massive pain to work with. 
*I will be doing the face bandannas in the various camo patterns; soldiers of all branches can be seen wearing them, typically mixed and matched to other uniforms. Expected no later than Christmas.
*Afrika Korps tan HBT uniforms. Aiming for a release around the 10th of December.
*The most requested item; Power Armor! It's coming, but figure on a Christmas release. The texture maps aren't as intuitive as everything else I've worked with so far.

At the moment I can't commit to anything else such as the requested propaganda posters, flags, and the like. They won't take long to make so if I find myself with a spare hour or two I'll release them. All I can say is to keep track of the mod as there won't be much, if any advanced notice. 

I've got some awesome stuff I'm *super* excited about coming out that I can't discuss here as it's not related directly to this mod, but keep an eye out for additional content coming on the 8th, I can say absolutely nothing more on the topic. Work on that content has slowed progress on this mod somewhat, so this is more a notice regarding this mod than anything, but I also might surprise you guys with releases of more of this mod's content sooner than expected.
