Right after E3, well before Fallout 4 was released, I claimed that the first mod I was going to do was replace the Mini Nuke with the baby model. Unfortunately to do so properly, it would require some model editing, and thanks to Bethesda making significant changes to the NIF format, I had to wait until a version of Nifskope that supported Fallout 4 was released.
Recently I came across the alpha builds of Nifskope that do support Fallout 4 - at least well enough. So, here it is!
What This Does
The files included in the archive will replace all instances of the Mini Nuke. This not only means the projectile, and the loose ammo, but also the Mini Nuke shown in the Fat Man itself, including when you reload and initially fire it.
Installation
First, make sure your game is already set up to load loose files. The easiest way to do this, is to start by opening up /My Documents/My Games/Fallout4Custom.ini, add an Archive tag ([Archive]) if it doesn't exist, and below that, add the following two lines: bInvalidateOlderFiles=1 sResourceDataDirsFinal=
Now, extract the "Meshes" folder from the archive, and place it in your Fallout 4/Data/ folder. That's it!
Notes
While this obviously shares some similarities with Atom Bomb Baby by Trainwiz, this mod includes actual modified nif files, so that the baby is positioned and catapulted in the proper position. This is not just a projectile model swap.
Bonus
Also included, is a second download (SuicideBomb) that will replace the Super Mutant Suicider's bomb with the baby model!
