About this mod

This mod replaces the default Fallout 4 main menu background in 21:9 3440x1440 glory @ 60FPS.

Permissions and credits
This first my first simple mod that replaces the default Fallout 4 main menu and throws you right into a deadly radiation storm within the glowing sea. The mod is inspired by AudieMurphy135's The Glowing Sea Main Menu Replacer.

This mod comprises of the X-01 Power Armor with no modification for authenticity and an M54 Gatling rifle. The minigun looks too cumbersome in my opinion.

This mod is designed for 21:9 monitors in mind, I have not tested this on 16:9 or 16:10 monitors so your mileage may vary.

The video has already been pre-graded, so it may not play nice / be too dark or of wrong color if you are using a preset mod such as ENBSeries or SweetFX/ReShade.

Excerpt from "Metallic Monks" (Fallout 1997) composed by Mark Morgan is used in this mod under fair usage rights.

Installation:

Either download with NMM or install manually.

OBS! If you have had any other previously installed mod that changes the main menu, be sure to uninstall it first!

For a manual installation, download the file and copy the content to the following directory paths. If the \Data\Music\Special path does not exist you should add it.

Place MainMenuLoop.bk2 in the following directory path:
\Data\Video

Place mus_maintheme.xwm in the following directory path:
\Data\Music\Special

Mods Used in the Video:

True Storms by fadingsignal
Darker Nights w/ True Storms Patch by unforbidable
M54 Gatlin Rifle by henkspamadres

FAQ:

Q: Does this seamlessly loop?
A: Yes, almost. There is a slight gap in the audio loop due to the way XWM files are encoded so I had to fade the ends. The video loops flawlessly, however.

Q: It doesn't work.
A: Either you didn't place the files in the specified locations, or you have not enabled modding for your game. If you're new to modding, see How to Enable Mods in Fallout 4 for more information.

Q: Sometimes the audio is replaced with default menu audio. Why is this?
A: This is a bug with the game, tends to happen when you've installed new mods. Nothing I can do about it. You will experience this the first time you load up the game after installing this mod. Just restart the game. If you can't get the audio at all, just reinstall the mod.

Q: Can I use the default music instead of the one supplied in this mod?
A: Yes, just delete mus_maintheme.xwm in the \Data\Music\Special directory.

Q: How big are the files?
A: Big. The Bink video weighs in at 630MB and the audio approx. 5MB.

Q: It's dark.
A: That's the point, or if its stupid dark you're using a preset and that is screwing up the colors.

Q: Can you make this for other aspect ratios as well like 16:9 or 16:10?
A: If the demand is high enough, I'll think about it. But don't expect to have the same FOV as the 21:9 version!

Q: I don't like the M54 Gatling rifle used. Can you make another version with "x" weapon?
A: Nope. This mod was originally made for myself. I won't be making tailored scenes. I may, however, release a series of menu replacers in the future.

Q: What tools did you use?
A: Captured with DXTORY using Lagarith Lossless Video Codec. Video edited with Apple Final Cut Pro. Audio edited in Apple Soundtrack Pro. Compressed to Bink Video with RAD Game Tools Bink Video Compressor.
