About this image

In-keeping with the Fallout aesthetic, low-tier versions of the service rifle get a different appearance from their higher-tier counterparts. The models you'll find picked off the bodies of raiders and scavengers will show their age with rusted materials and visible damage.

As you upgrade them, they'll reflect their higher quality with a newer and less roughed-up appearance.

So I'm curious - will the Service Rifle be a low level weapon - at least at first? It was usually your first military-style rifle in NV if you followed the flow of the story, so I feel it should be a low-ish level weapon (Also if the military did give up on the M-series as per the lore for the R-91, then there should be several metric tonnes of them disposed of as surplus and thus in civvie hands, makes sense for them to survive into the Wasteland)

Since this was built for Cascadia's NCR, which are pretty prominent throughout, it's meant to scale for a large portion of the game.

The early variants are fairly low-powered and will quickly get outclassed, but the weapon can be upgraded to where it can compete with some pretty high-tier gear.

I'd say it's roughly analogous to the vanilla Combat Rifle in terms of damage output, up until the last tier of unlocks where it unquestionably surpasses it damage-wise.

I wanted something that you could use for the majority of the game, that would scale with you, rather than something that would ultimately lose its usefulness and have to be discarded for better weapons.

I absolutely love that you've decided to make these! And the fact that you're making them varied with what the rest of the community has put out, goes to show the amount of effort you're putting it in.
