This is an image from a FO4 mod I'm working on called Weapon Addition and Replacement Suite (WARS).

The first weapon in WARS to be a new addition rather than a replacer is the Mossberg 590 - because in FO4's weapon roster there was a big hole where a pump-action shotgun should be.
Here's a shot of the textured weapon in Substance Painter. So far in WARS I haven't really bothered doing low-detail variants (which the game uses whenever a weapon is not in the player's hands), but as you can see here, I did for the heat-shield. The low-detail variant doesn't have actual holes in it.
Edit: Oh, and the shell holder (a reload speed increase mod) will have shotgun shells in it, it's just that the shells are not in this Painter file as I'll be using the shell model/textures I made for the USAS-12.
I used An Aggressive Napkin's resource as a starting point, but made a lot of changes and additions to it. I ended up not using the included low-poly at all, and started from the high-poly instead. The shell holder is based on Tigg's M500 resource - again with some changes by me.

Really though there are so many factors that it's too hard to predict yet - like it says in the FAQ in the second post of the WIP thread.
