It's a personal preference, and matches the vanilla weapons. A lot of detail was poured into modeling the weapon inside and out, and while technically accurate to have it eject to the right, by having it on the left side we get to see all the details of the mechanism in action.
Personally I think one of big mistake, aside the lack of RP design in fallout 4, is the exact reason you used to justify the wrong sided ejection port. If you need awesomeness for your guns, try to recruit fancy animators.
That's why New Vegas is the best modern Fallout: It have both, a good RP design and a good 3D modeling with fine animations, at least for a 2010 game.
The standalone version may also include options for either a left-handed or right-handed receiver, either as separate installs or just separate parts you can switch between.
I am so fucking waiting for this mod, I don't think I can keep my shirt on. I don't care about the ejection port, M4 are so rare in FO4 and the textures look friggin great.
