About this image

Created a larger landing pad that is as wide as the wingspan to avoid the VTO clipping after landing.
Replaced the front and back supports with landing tires.

I know you want the boxiness for the insides. But have you thought about adding some detailing to the outside on top of the current frame to give it some "curves"? Could make the external add-on pieces modular so could customize your own look VTOL.

Or those "curved" sections could be containers that would be akin to some of the slip tanks currently used on modern fighters for crossing oceans with minimum drag.

I was just thinking mash-up pieces from vanilla. I'd be happy to help if I can. Though my modeling skills are pretty limited to Outfit Studio manipulations at the moment. But then objects for your VTO don't need Body Weighting. I so hate body weighting.

Example. Could use power armor jet pack mounted to both sides and rotated 90 degrees so face backwards for thrusters. Or miniguns mounted under the front nose. There's quite a few curved pieces from the airplanes and even metal shacks that might work is scaled bigger or smaller for nose cone and such.

The pieces to the APC would actually wrap around and add details to your VTOL really well too. Just knock the wheels off and any other parts you don't like. Stretch and scale the APC to line up with your frame. You'd get a lot of details and curves for free. I just looked at the APC nif and its divided into 2 main meshes, the main frame and then all the detailing. So it would be pretty easy to slice up and re-purpose.
