Windbreaker, Part 24: The Apex Predator
 
  "Oh myyy! Here she is, the woman of the hour, The Wasteland's most fearsome apex predator," shouted
Heather when they caught up with Cait at Windbreaker's gates. Cait was sitting on the security shack's
stairs, greeting her approaching companions with a wide grin.
   Nora said, "You left quite a trail of corpses behind you. Poor Rolf and Brigitte really looked worse for wear."
   "Well, I couldn't just bloody well sit with me thumb up me arse the whole night while the two of you were
having all the fun," said Cait. "I was just having a chat with them at the lounge, nothing special. At some point,
I think I might've mentioned that their outfits were giving me seriously naughty thoughts. Also might've
mentioned that I'd love to try them out. Brigitte, being a right flirt, asked me which ones I'd like to try out?
Them, or their outfits? I said both, of course."
   Heather and Nora laughed, and gave Cait exaggeratedly reserved applause, impersonating hoity-toity
New Vegas high society ladies.
   "Well, one thing's for sure. No one's ever accused you of being a demure little flower," said Nora.
   "Damn straight. Anyways, one thing led to another pretty quickly from there," said Cait. "I've been on this
bloody dry spell for so long, that when I found meself staring at these delicious chunks of prime meat, I just
went whole hog."
   Heather and Nora were laughing so hard they had trouble breathing.
   "And then some!" said Cait. "But really, they were so sweet those two. Not like all those bleedin' sods we
keep runnin' into out there."
   "Hear, hear!" said Nora. "This place and its people have been truly exceptional."
   Heather nodded. "Truly. I didn't think it would be possible to have a settlement in this garbage dump that's
so well adjusted," she said. "Friendly and inviting, but also highly organized and fully alert to The Wasteland's
threats. If they find you agreeable, they'll welcome you with open arms, but they'll never be caught with their
pants down."
   Cait grinned. "Well, actually..."
