About this image

Rekindling my third longest played character from five+ years ago. I remember that character like it were yesterday, starting as a bumbling itinerant and slowly becoming a dusty desperado -- my first time using Dustbowl 0.3. I played that character to hell and back. Transfer Settlements first came out during that playthrough, which blew my mind, then a week later? Sim Settlements.

But as all things he was getting long in the tooth. I didn't want to stop playing at that point because I had so much going on in the CW, but . . . a random encounter changed that. Despite all that time playing I had never visited the Abernathy's. I was wandering around when Blake came up and introduced himself. My character was a jaded pistolero and I was equally as jaded. The correct dialogue choice to Blake talking about his dead daughter was that she was stupid to have gone against the raiders, which pissed Blake off. He said to get off his land, and that was when I knew it was time to do something else. My pistolero shot the Abernathy's dead and then left their bodies to bake in the midday sun.

I opened up Looksmenu, gave him a new face and racemenu for a new name. My 'old' character headed west to parts unknown while the 'new' character was a wasteland pastor. That pastor was setting up chapels in the settlements, but wanted to stop by Abernathy's to see why he hadn't seen them in a while. It didn't last too long, but enough to slide into a happy solution.

Not sure this character by the name of Buddy O'Dool will run that thousand+ hours, and I don't have the mods I had (using a slightly modified ScreamingLake's Tale of Two Commonwealth's wabbajack modlist), but I am having fun. Whole new mods to play with, and a dry badlands to hang out in.
