    Looking great DV!

I haven't played FO4 in quite some time and I have to admit to a bit of ptsd at seeing a cazador! Those things are nightmares

Thanks so much!  Yeah, I was reluctant for a while to install the mod that added those flying chainsaws into FO4.  They do look neat flying over pumice though.

    Stunning.

What immediately stands out is how the atmosphere ranges from melancholic beauty to hopeless ruin and isolation. Thematically, that balance is what the series is all about and this encapsulates that wonderfully. I'm also really excited about the flora and how that's going to inform, from a roleplaying POV, gameplay and settlement building. The rich vegetation of the north encouraging more farmland-style builds whereas the farther south you go it becomes more about harsh survival and fortified bases. Is this going to affect the number and placement of trees at all?

I said this last time but those ground textures? I'm totally obsessed, man. Cannot wait for this.

Thanks!  Great idea with the differentiation of settlements in different parts of the map corresponding to their varying ecological capacities.  So far the flora setup I think gels the best with VULKAN has been plain vanilla trees.  I'm retexturing bark, but otherwise the base game's tree models and placement give a good impression of a landscape that was torched 5-50 years ago.  A terrible representation of New England 200 years after a nuclear exchange, but great for a more recent disaster.

I'd always loved the idea of a Fallout world that had been scorched to almost literal cinders. A place where the billions of gallons of industrial waste bleached what wasn't glassed. Sour seas, bitter air, sulphuric loam.

With Chernobyl being what it is, I know the idea of such a wasteland has mostly been left to the 90's worst case scenario. The Fallout 1 advertisements spoke to a perpetual burning sky, roves of mutants, an end times. Maybe Fallout 3 played out the ashes and dust, or STALKER ended up proving more true-to-form.

Anyway, this looks promising and is probably the closest environment I've been clamoring for for years. I won't ask for a "nuclear green" lava.

    Promise.

Looks impressive man. The amount of disaster here makes me consider reinstalling if not for a romp or two.

Thanks!  The initial plan was for a comprehensively destroyed landscape, but that would clash with the low-key nature of the gameworld's human societies.  These folks have time for all kinds of wacky shenanigans, which means they're getting plenty of nutrition from somewhere, so somewhere there's gotta be arable land, marginally potable water, etc.  Might as well represent that in-game with a splash of greenery on the outer margins of the map.  Like Comrade Mango alluded to, there's opportunity to roleplay that out through the settlements.  Most of the map is pretty thoroughly devastated though, to scratch that mid-apocalyptic itch.

Very apocalyptic!   It's a lot of work but sounds like you are happy with the result.
