Ghost - and update

About this image

So - I started going back in time thinking it might be a corrupted save.
Especially since none of my other characters - I've got 5 or 6 going at the moment- share this problem.

At first I thought it was because of Heather. It happened at about the time I met and hired her. But a couple of my other characters have Heather in tow as well and they do not turn into ghosts at night. And why should Heather be the reason at all!

Then I saw that I was taking radiation. Less than one rad pr. sec. But all the time - everywhere. It is a known bug with the game and it can be cured by taking aquaboy/girl. Or adding it via console. I've tried it before but I think it is the first time it has caused this ghostly appearance in one of my characters.

So - I think I know the reason. But I do not know the cure. I've tried what Culuf and DeltaFour21Bravo suggested. But no luck.

Anyway - it's no big deal as I'm only sandboxing. And then I have ideas for a couple of picture sets. I just need to be careful about when- and where I do the pictures.

The pictures are at 13h 21min into the game. And at 35h 50 minutes.

    You're becoming a Jedi ghost!
Jokes aside, I think what Dazaster mentioned about the "cl off" might work, it might be the weird "fake lighting" Beth put on all NPCs

Are you using an enb or reshade? Does the effect go away if you turn it off?

    Also:
Did you try "cl off" in the console (minus the quotes)

Are you using any mods that effect targeting, like a power armor helmet mod?

Did you cure it with the Aquaboy perk or did the perk cause it?
This is exactly what happened to my companions, but they can't take on perks so who knows why
(Are you using Natural and Atmospheric Commonwealth?) Could try this:
    help radiation 4
    player.removespell 0019A672
(or any other radiation effect that came up in the search)

Thank you Beth Nope - the perk cured it. It's an old issue - to some. And I've found it mentioned both on Reddit and Bethnet. No - I'm not using any weather mods. Just Darker Nights (I really dislike being able to see everything when it's supposed to be midnight. Though it DOES remind me of the nights we have now and for the next couple of months) Anyway - rambling off............
I'll write down this and try it when I load the game the next time. Thank you very much

Thank you Etholas No big deal. My other characters don't suffer from it. And the old man is used mainly for trying out some things. And then I've got an idea for a picture series. But that's about as far as he will get - I think.......

Have you tried adding the perk for Aquaboy via console yet to see if cures it? I would be annoyed as heck at this myself. For some reason, I've been getting every weird vanilla bug (that have been in the game since it was released and yet to be fixed by Bethesda--and probably won't ever be) recently--some of them I've never even heard of before until I looked them up--just not this one. Hope you get it figured out, Steff.

Hiya Kitty Cat Yes - I did that. The rads stopped ticking. But he's still a ghost when it gets dark. You just cross your paws - or whatever. And come tell me when/if it hits you.....

That would make it hard for me to play forward.. You mention different characters, do you do that with profiles? I have had this happen in Skyrim with effects and cleared the effect with console command. Also, you mention a perk related bug. DDProductions made a mode that allowed you to reset your perks., if that is the cause.

Thank you OLBM No - I haven't tried with different profiles.I'm not particularly adventurous. All of them are in the same mess of mods. And the bug is not perk related. It happens when you've taken been irradiated somewhwere. Now, when you're not near the source anymore the rads keep on ticking. Not very much. But you need to keep taking meds. Moreover - when playing with a hardcore mod it won't allow you to sleep as long as you're taking rads......... Getting aquaboy/girl stops the bug. But the ghost effect - which I haven't seen before- remains. As for playing - well, he's not my main character. I've got a couple of ideas for some screenies with this guy. That's all

Im sorry, but i hear you say ghost and i just imagine Elijah from Dead Money "a city of the dead in a blood red cloud. Filled with ghost".
Does seem like a weird bug, i have never seen that before.

Thank you ChooChoo Yeah - it's odd. But he's not my main character so (shrugs) not a big deal. After all

I just remembered where I've seen that effect before. It was in the game Jedi Academy, where you have to shield from the poison rain, your character has the same blue glow. I believe Disney is now about to sue you for copyright infringement
On a serious note, does the problem remain if you remove all the items he's wearing? One of 'em might have an effect tied to it.

Maybe it's some kind of issue with character lighting? no matter it's kind of a cool effect even if it may be annoying and immersion breaking a backstory implementing ti as a feature not a bug is the way to go.

Thank you Bersark Yeah - it's annoying. And also kind of fascinating. If only it could be implemented in daytime too

I hope you will be able to solve that problem, Steffen! BTW you can create a really ghost story about your character) I think it's a pretty cool effect after all) (disturbing, but cool)

Not a big problem to be honest. I'm just using him for sandboxing a few ideas I'd like to try out. But that ghost story. Hmm......... Thank you Mila
