not to be rude, but why are you even doing this? This has been uploaded on another forum months ago, seems kinda silly to do it again from scratch. I dont want to discredit your work, I love your mods, but you are doing the same work they have been doing months ago already, they have also ported various skins and the red rocket ranger from FO76. Is there some kind of disconnect between nexus and other forums? I was baffled when I joined that forum to find out that Nexus is like a year behind on this.
Not to be rude but you're dead wrong, Nevermind is making the first true Red Shift PA recreation mod from scratch. Keyword being "recreation" and not just a bog-standard port between games which is FYI, hella illegal.
A recreation from scratch not only bypasses these copyright laws since it draws inspiration from the copyrighted work without being a DIRECT copy, i.e ports illegal, recreations legal.
P.s. I have nothing against people who port stuff between games, it's well within your right to do so on your private game.
Jeez you are paranoid. Bethesda barely cares about FO76 cheaters and there is no money made with these mods so why would they bother going after FO4 modders of all people?
Also doesn't change what I said, mod already exists, Nexus is behind.
I am also pretty sure that if a design is copyrighted that this would still break your apparent copyright laws since they are almost indistinguishable.
Yeah, because Bethesda's legal team and anti-cheat units are the same right? Spreading copyrighted assets is illegal and Bethesda will take legal against you, they, however, won't take action if you only port for yourself.
By all means, please do enlighten us with these mods then.
False, the design is copyrighted along with the asset, hence why the distribution of ports are illegal but that doesn't mean recreating said design and asset from scratch is, which even then, Nevermind's FO76 power armor mods aren't a 1:1 recreation but rather a creation that draws heavy inspiration from said content.
I was not saying they are the same. (There is also no such thing as a anti-cheat unit, if there is, they are doing a pretty bad job) I was comparing them, because people cheated items and sold them for money to other players and in the 2 years that game has been out they havent done much about it. Why would they care if people use them just for fun in FO4?
Since you are being so pedantic, I sure as hell am not gonna tell you what forum I am referring to. One of the modders posts screenshots on nexus though, hes testing a bunch of armors right now including t-65 ,red rocktet, vertibird etc. These would take nexus like years to import if we look at the current speed armors are being imported/recreated. I have spent enough money on FO76 already and Bethesda has been involved in enough consumer harming (and also illegal) controversies in the last few years, that I feel fine with downloading a few armors instead of waiting for months or armors/paints not being ported at all.
If thats such a big deal for you, fine, I can understand. but I politely disagree.
I used the term "anti-cheat units" as a catch-all for the team dealing with cheaters and the like. Tbf, from what I've seen, the snail-like pace on taking action against said offenders is fairly inline with other online multiplayer games *cough* CS:GO, War Thunder, WoW *cough* even if Fallout 76 is only 2 years old. Like I said previously it's not about you doing it in private, it's about you spreading ports to other users and such.
How in the flip-flop am I being pedantic? I'm genuinely curious which forum you are referring to since the only one I know of is the FIREARM net*(not saying the real name cause if memory serves, Nexus' mods don't take kindly to references to that forum)* which, most of the time are just straight-up ports instead of recreations.
Eh, a bunch of game publishers are rather anti-consumer at times so I stopped caring a long time ago.
It's not even a big deal for me lmao, I'm just politely disagreeing on your presumption, Nexus is behind because it'd rather have authors recreating content instead of porting it.
Very exciting! Cant wait to see the final product. I know this is jumping the gun a little but any plans to bring t-65 power armor to fallout 4? Thank you for your work!
This look absolutely fantastic! Love the attention to detail and variety you all put into these projects. Seriously. the air force power armor was stellar, the evolution of your midwestern power armor was grand. Then excavator power armor, then ultracite collection, and now this. On top of that, your mods are, in my experience at least, stable to boot. Wow. Just, wow.
Not ripped. I sent NewerMind43 reference photos from 76 using the photomode, he made this from scratch using only those pictures. He is that skilled. You are not allowed to take assets from one of Bethesda’s games to another except for private use but you are allowed to recreate as long as everything is made from scratch.
It wasn't made from scratch as they re-used their excavator power armour mod's model. but they did make the excavator power armour model from scratch though.

Either way this looks really sick, great job.
