And the irony of it all is punched home by the pithy Pipsys.
The super bleached color scheme is perfect to bring out that theme and in another ironic twist, the only bright spots, the only cheery, colorful things are the weird flora and fauna created by the devastation. The 'aliens' have been created by us.
It's such a well done set of images. Every picture seems tightly bound to such a cohesive theme. They all seem to have an equal weight in expressing the theme - except, maybe, the last one.
That last picture is very reminiscent of explorers staking a claim for new, uncharted territory. It might be an expression of hope.

Das letzte Bild ist einer meiner Favoriten und alleine dieses Bild hätte im Grunde schon ausgereicht um dem Theme Outer spaces mehr als gerecht zu werden.
Da kam mir in den Sinn, dass Margret uns Sos sich vielleicht wie Ausserirdische im Leuchtenden Meer fühlen ...
