Thanks! I tend to enjoy writing more light high-adventure style. Some serious stuff but not a lot. It is my favorite kind of book reading as well. Aye Mac is a huge guy! Fenn is about 5'4" and Mac is 8'2".

8'2" Jheeze, When you think about the FEV and it makes sense. Supermutant's start at that height.
      Great lore there

Clever, clever way to get out, so adore Fenns intelligent solutions! ^^
I'm happy they are back in whole, in this episode the humour was brilliant, the wheelchair one, the slipped hand convo, I just laughed loud.
Just curious how these happening affect Mac. Really curious.

Well its great to see that you made it this far in the stories!

Aye I needed to break the tension after everything that happened. These two have always used humor and sarcasm to help deal with life so it was appropriate for them, at least once they were back together again. Until then Fenn was too deep in depression to think about anything but saving his friend.

That was no small feat getting Mac out of there.
The idea of the extend brancard to transport him was a smart one, a wheelchair would not have fitted indeed.
The story does show also what cooperation and planning ahead can achieve (even if someone is not able to do much.
Enjoyed the story , it drew me in while reading, wich is a good sign,..

Thanks Windy! While I took a much more light hearted approach in this story I wanted to try and keep it somewhat logical. I also forget, sometimes, that Mac is huge and would require special clothes and the like. Part of this is easy to forget as the game scales everything. But when doing a story I try to highlight some of the differences/problems involved with being so large. Luckily Fenn is a good crafter and also has friends at the RR and in DC who make things for Mac.

Where do I start, the shots are really well done, each would tell the story with no words, the lighting and the colors go along way to show just how dangerous that place is. I love how Mac and Fenn even in the times of stress can let off some steam and the shot of Fenn helping Mac up the stairs was so funny and made me laugh so hard.

Dogmeat was a great plus as his stealth field is something that Gunners never thought of until he was ripping on their flesh. Preston really did step up and him thinking to call on the BOS was an unforeseen event for sure. Wonderful, so happy to see Mac out of that place and on the road to recovery, maybe now the Gunners will step back and understand they have lots to lose and those bio-science folks well not sure they are gone either but I know the boys will keep an eye out for any trouble while Mac gets totally better.Awesome work Jon, so enjoyed this!!

Thanks very much Shelley! I know I did a lot of writing lately. That will be it for a bit. Have a short epilogue to do (images already done) but then time to get back to more playing and random short stories versus these big long ones. They are fun but take a lot of time and energy. Still was worth it to add some more depth to their characters history and personality.

Epilogue should answer a few questions about the gunners and scientists as well as how Mac is doing now that he has had time to recover.

I'm almost glad I was behind in my reading. That way I was able to read these 6 straight through. In the back of my mind I still have a lingering fear, knowing that they know where Mac lives. There is still that anxiety and pressure there but knowing that Mac is better is a wonderful respite for the time being. Thanks for such a lovely story.

Aye there are some pluses to catching up late since you miss many of the cliff-hangers :)

This war with Mac has cost the Gunners too much I think. They have lost the Interstate Base, Mass Fusion Base, Quincy Base, and now Vault 75. That leaves their headquarters and I think two small bases. They could lose their entire operations if they continue. I suspect they will back off for now. I would say it is more the secretive scientists that they have more to worry about although they just lost their two best bio-science folks so hard to say.

For now, at least, they are safe :)

"Discombobulated" is such a great word and so rarely used Very touching ending to a real heart tearing tale. I know there's more to come, but this was the icing on the story. I really like the way Dogmeat is integrated into your stories....you have a very good understanding of our relationship's with canine companions. Thanks for this tale.

Many thanks Jacob! Aye I almost never get a chance to use that word and was so pleased I had a chance to (and that my mind knew to toss it out of my unconscious pit of vocabulary into consciousness lol).

I can't imagine having a character without a canine around for company :) I always like to add them in when I can and Dogmeat is a great example of a good companion.

I found myself heaving a huge sigh of relief when they opened the door and saw Preston and the vertibird! Fenn is so resourceful, I knew that once he found Mac, he'd get them all out, but at what cost? It made me very nervous, so seeing that the cavalry, as you said, had arrived, I was fist pumping and grinning as I read! This was tense, heartbreaking, and joyful, and I loved every bit! Those two so belong together, with Dogmeat watching over them. So happy for them all, they should rest well for a while! (and you too. )

Thank you Kes! I think Fenn and Mac were also happy to see Preston there with the bird. I don't think anyone wanted to carry Mac all the way back to RR ... although if there was no flight option then they would have carried him to the closest MM settlement instead. Glad you enjoyed the happy ending :)

Tell the lads to call at the meat stall in DC, I left a couple of hundred caps of credit there for them. Told you the Brahmin Steaks were on me

Wrapping things up nicely Jon, and hopefully Mac will be a bit more at ease with himself now that one of the ghosts from his past has been laid to rest.

Thanks! On the Discord server I hang out I was actually talking about that offer you made while doing some planning for chapter 7. Proof :) Second paragraph first sentence. The lads are holding you to it :)

Aye part of the goal here was to resolve things with Mac's past. Although he won't be getting all mushy or anything drastic like that. Just will be more comfortable with himself and, consequently, more comfortable in his strange relationship with Fenn. I don't see him changing his basic nature that much but he will enjoy some of his "off time" with Fenn with less angst and guilt at least.

Ha, there'll be more meat comin, soon be time for my winter hunt with Old Longfellow. We're only after the furs and hides for trading so we ship the excess meat to the settlements.

Daisy in Goodneighbour will let Mac know when the caravan is due in

Wonderful chapter! As soon as I saw it, I had to read it, even though I'm at work and can't play the music or see dark pics all that well. No matter, it was totally worth it, and I'll read it again tonight in all it's glory.

Bringing a story to its climax successfully is tricky enough, but dealing with the aftermath - such as the escape - can be downright hard to do in a believable way. But you dealt with the escape convincingly with an added bonus of humor. I know we all say it a lot, but the camaraderie between your guys is so heart-warming and fun to read. Fenn and his "hand slipping" moment surprised me and made me laugh

Can't wait to see Duncan and see what mischief the son of Big Mac gets up to.

Thanks Jumarbye. While long the story was easier to write as I have their personalities so firmly settled in my head they pretty much write their own dialogue at this point as my sub-conscious knows how they both should act and supplies the thoughts I need for my conscious mind to turn into words. It is a much nicer way of writing when you don't have to struggle to come up with what is happening. I do create plots and all that which in turn I then dwell on and its a constant cycle of the conscious and unconscious going back and forth to then create a large story like this.

Anyhow glad you enjoyed it. One more chapter to go, more of an epilogue really, then a bit of a break I think before I consider the Duncan story I am toying with.

Well, just read through it again on the home PC and with the music. It's even better when I can experience your story with all the features! I don't want to think about what would happen with Fenn if something happened to Mac - and vice versa as well.

Oh, and I wasn't trying to push with the Duncan story - I can, of course, wait just fine until whenever, if ever, you decide to write that saga.
