The pain and pleasure of modding....been here too many times to count. It usually causes maniacal laughing at my own goofs at some point. Then as if by magic, the game pixies come flying in, wave their magic wand and grant me a game that works again .....remind me again why we do this?

I was *this* close to going back to Skyrim SE (which I'll do eventually anyway), but then, looking at the hours or even days I'd need to spend to check on mod updates for it, I said, hey, might as well figure out what's wrong with FO4 and laboured on.

Then, when I finally had everything worked out and had the game running as it should, I got this:

Which had me scratching my head furiously again, because, when doing what was suggested in the message, nothing happened besides an Adobe FlashPlayer rendition of the HUD popping-up.

Turned out I ticked a wrong box when installing the DEF_UI mod, indicating I was already using a User Inteface. Which was technically true, since I copied it from a back-up, but that's not the interpretation the set-up of DEF-UI had in mind...

Having played over 8000 hours, one retains a thing or two about what can actually go wrong, what causes it and which mods are at the source. The thing is that my troubles started after a restart of the game with thirty-some mods I'd never used before. And because I'm smart, I installed the lot in one go, which is a certified way to never find which mod or mods are the cause of one's troubles...

Damn, can't believe you did that! That's something I learned from you not to do. Ha, ha, sorry.

The things we need to suffer for simple playing this game, amazing isn't it how Bethesda can make ya Fallout life a hell because of their updates most people not waiting for.

That is why i keep it 1.9.4 , no CC mods until they stop filling my folder with things i don't need sadly i will miss all the new mods that need F4SE...

I have 1.9.4 as well. Like you said, no Creation Club. Unfortunately, I can no longer make it work. So now I run 1.10.106. I have my downloads turned off essentially. 16kbps max download rate and only update between 3-4 am. So nothing should come through. Do you think they care about that? Nope. Bethesda and Steam simply over ride that setting for these "extremely important" updates. So they snuck in 10.120 Fortunately 10.106 still runs.

I need to back up everything though..

Lol, and some people ask me, why I consider Bethesda a true champion at breaking my balls. And I've never even had to go through all the pain you've described. If I were you, I would've been pissed. So much so, that there probably would've been a mushroom cloud, caused by an atomic butthurt.

Well, I haven't made it out of the house yet

Two critical points when starting a new game fully modded, are entry and exit of Vault 111. We'll see. Said the blindman...

Oh dear, I feel with you… I know only too well what it feels like. *sighs* I'm truly sorry for you trouble!
By the way, your main shot is my favourite.

Thanks, liebe Lucy...The freckles are an overlay, so I can get rid of them without having to swap mods. I also prefer the main screenshot, but I like to have hair that leaves the ears uncovered for when I add earrings.
