Time also helps. The longer I stay with a look the less likely I will be to ever change it.
Aye it is amazing how different the hair or no-hair makes him. Which is why I am simply debating leaving Jonathan Wolf as the shaved and creating a new character (aka Wulf Ryder maybe ... still 50-50 on name) with the hair and some other changes.
Thanks :)
cheese--ehm, like a fine wine. Yup, much better than cheese, a fine wine it is.Thanks for the info about Vortex, I've been thinking about it...I've had some game issues due to hard drive problems, (won't go into that here) and I'm not certain at this point what my plans are going forward.
I saw the vortex announcing, but really ... I fear to change , because I don't know, what will happen. Is it much work, or takes vortex the old installed and activated mods?
As I assume, you had no troubles and your review is pleasure to look up ...
Well I did the move more or less the hard way. Vortex will let you import mods from NMM if active. But I wanted to rebuild so I uninstalled all of them and then added them manually to Vortex after removing NMM files for FO4. I only use NMM for Skyrim Classic right now.
That went pretty easy and smoothly though. I found Vortex to be much faster than NMM in some ways. At this point, after using it for two days, my only major gripe with Vortex is how it handles load order and that it is more time consuming and difficult to adjust load order. But you can still do it ... so just need to get used to it.
Since I wanted to rebuild FO4 completely from scratch (although, of course, I am still using many of my favorite mods) and clean out my DATA file (amazing how much stuff collects there) I figured this was a perfect time to try Vortex.
Earlier today I was regretting it ... but as I use it more I think I will be okay with it. I still prefer NMM right now but that may change.
Glad you enjoyed the post - I have some new ideas for Fenn and his partners Mac and Dogmeat ... and some tweaks to his SPECIAL, perks, and features to represent his growing experience in the CW.
He has gone through some changes through the years, but still has a very recognisable look. Meaning: It's still Fenn. Loved you figured out the lore aroound and how he became more more a genuine character. Same goes for Jonathan (although he's not that old yet) and Mac,..
Great looking shots from all of them.
I've been using Vortex for about 6 months I think , very much enjoyed the look and ease of use. I'm pretty sure you will like it.
I've now switched to MO2 since I feel it offers me a more stable game experience and I find the mechanics to work with the different setups easier and faster and, how shall I put it, more intuitive.
Glad you enjoyed Fenn. He was a tad younger looking with a longer face and more feral looking in design. I somewhat prefer the original look at times but I don't have that saved and I tried a few times to duplicate it and it always ended in failure. So I just continue to work on existing. Each new game minor tweaks.
So at this point I have been able to do everything with V that I can in NMM with my only real gripe, outside of learning new ways of doing things which isn't a legitimate gripe, is manual load ordering is more complicated in V and easier to do in NMM.
Did you have any problems with Vortex? Good experiences?
While I had some initial issues learning how to do some things in Vortex I figured out the last of the things I needed to do what I want to do this morning. Still some other things I would like to do but don't think you can (like decide when over-writing when installing a mod to either over-write all conflicting loose files, just a specific mods files, a specific folder, or a specific file - in V, from what I can see, you can only decide what mod, as a whole, another mod can over-write - not individual folders or files, which is annoying). Also setting up your own load order is a complete and utter PITA and pretty much the one thing I really dislike about Vortex - and why I would have never moved to it had I known. You can do it with groups and various rules but it take time and is overly complicated. In V you have to do all these manual steps to set up individual load order and go through hoops. Made worse if you add/remove stuff. While in NMM to change load order all you have to do is just drag the plug-ins around - super easy. If I could get my simple and easy to use load order control back, and a slightly better grouping system for both plug-ins as well as categories, then I would probably be a lot more happy with it. But as it is that is a major flaw in its design IMO.
Personally I don't recommend anyone to move to it if they like NMM's very simple and easy to use style. V seems more for those who are used to LOOT (something I never used) or like multiple profiles (also something I never uses). But as I told Windy in another comment not much point returning to NMM since eventually NMM will go away since it is no longer supported. That being said I will keep my other games on NMM for now.
