Always love your image work - even urinals. I went to an art museum and they had a special exhibition from a photographer (can't remember name and don't want to). His primary focus was on used toilets and pictures of girls in bathing suits. I did not leave that particular section feeling more worldly. Your work; however, should be in there.

Thanks V, but I think Marcel Duchamp beat me to it!

You ever dig on any Ralph Eugene Meatyard? In addition to having a real fifteen-dollar name, dang that dude could photograph.

At least Marcel Dunchamp's urinals weren't .... post-war. I hadn't heard of Ralph Eugene Meatyard. A quick google search shows me some creepy and interesting photographs. I will look at more.

Yeah, I kind of forgot about that crazy mask thing he had going for a while there. I was mostly thinking of his unconventional composition, no-focus style of shooting, and hella tactile light. Check out the portrait Madonna for more of the beauty and less of the strangeness for strangeness' sake.

Madonna is a beautiful image. No-focus wanted to activate a migraine for me. I can see what you're saying about his style. I am always interested in learning about new artists and new things. Thanks for the links!

No place like a place where you can have acces to exessive cropping right ,..
Great looking imagery and presentation. It smooths the way you look at them in a very pleasant manner,..
I can't give you a good reason why, but I liked this one a lot,...

Thanks Erwin! I think that one works (for you and me at least) in part because the composition involves a series of clear positive/negative space juxtapositions defined by tonal contrast. The bright nose and lips sit within the dark frame of the hood shadow, which sits within the light frame of the hoodie, which sits within an outline of dark shadows, which is set against a bright sky, which is within the black background matting. Both the figure's head and the horizon line are sited more or less according to the Rule of Thirds, so that's geometrically satisfying as well. A little bit of complementary blue in the background helps to break up the orange hues of the rest of the thing. If I had to do it over again, I'd probably bump up the blue of the hoodie to help that secondary focal area stand out and arrest the eye more effectively. Or whatever...

I just switched to PRC and have only begun to discover it's variability, but these.....Damn!!! The color and shadow....Wow! These two panels with the hooded figure are the ones I would love to imitate some day. Impressive, very impressive!!!

Thanks! Those are some of my favorites from the bunch as well. I think they work mostly because they're very simple- there's just one figure in front of a neutral, non-distracting backdrop. The shapes formed by the high-contrast drop shadows and bright highlights can guide the eye without the brain having to figure out what any extraneous shapes in the background might be.

Some great colors within the the primarily cool palette. Fascinating angles of view and a great variety in subject matter. Really nice work!
