I like the texture variations on the light-colored wood frames - rough driftwood for the beach scenes, a little smoother for the Dogmeats (and the chain connector is just right - almost a leash) and smoother still on the autumnal scene. There's enough variation in the colors in the wood that it doesn't need any other decoration like you had before with the barbed wire.
Also like the canvas-like texture in the autumnal scene. Part of the original image or added by you?
The solid black frames look great where you've used them. And, fantastic work on creating a mat!
Like how you've handled Ellen's charcoal sketch. It's the kind of work that might have been used for a study and then filed away (or lost) and neglected - never intended to be framed and displayed. Now, it's gotten scratched and dirty (in just the right place, too - bottom, left) and found in an old, dusty trunk somewhere. It could be hung up using rolled-up duct tape on the back of the corners.
P.S. I like your grey couch. I'm going to put one in Isolde's Gallery.
I added the canvas texture to the autumn scene - the image is part of a series that craola has done recently using similar colors. I'm probably going to frame more of them so they can be used together or separate with such a great landscapes and color schemes.
I'm glad you like the mat image. It was an excellent idea you had. I am torn between the clean look, or a slightly aged look. That one I haven't really "aged" except for the texture on the image itself. I usually walk a line between pre/post war in my other mods because I want things kind worn...but not destroyed. All the black frames so far - are just plain black so that the image really shows off. So I will probably keep them that way. The gray mat just looks so clean. I know some people will like that though.
I am so glad you like the effect I put on the sketch - you could probably tell I was inspired by your image when I kept asking all those questions and requesting stuff! The way you describe it, is almost exactly how it was in my mind - it's uncanny. I haven's seen many images that walk the line of alluring and tasteful at the same time. I don't want to have to "adult" up my mod - this image doesn't feel that way to me. It is one of my favorites so far. (In this moment - I just realized I rarely peruse the supporter images - I've only started noticing the recent ones as possible art as I've been working on the mod. Time to fix that!)
and...
YAY! I sold a couch...oh wait
What is she thinking etc...
Which I feel like I have now over used the joke.
And I know that my images are too dark, there is not much I can do because they look terrible if they were brighter.
Something to think about
That will take skills I have yet to acquire. I think that idea is a neat one and would work particularly well with image artists that are also storytellers - as if viewing a film. Most of those artist images don't work for this type of scenario - but would shine in a mod idea such as yours.
I had an idea for a simple black picture frame having a single neon trim around the edges. It'd provide illumination for the picture at night, plus be a hommage to the 80's :)
Btw, love the new additions, the Dogmeat pics are adorable (looks like the work of Wolfgrimdark) - frames on chains is such a good idea. The modification to the forest image (the mat surround) looks excellent, and the image itself is much improved as it sits really well in that particular frame. The 'adult' pic is imho very tasteful.
Will there be pictures-lamps? Something like that:
For green, I have a "radioactive Madonna".
For "stained glass" from Napoleonofthestump, this is also suitable, as I think.
Something like this.
