That shot of him kneeling on the water is a really, really cool capture. Awesome dreamscape work!

Thank you - I really like the cool blue tones in the preset and it worked well with the water shot. Fenrir is an old wolf so he still likes traditional symbols like swords.

Thanks Iheart! I wanted it simple and just a bit surreal or unusual.

I'm sure that main is your current desktop. It's a great shot and well composed. Good story. I like the writing style and it leaves the door open as to where in time you will wake him.

Thanks! Ah too intense of a shot for my desktop actually lol. Right now my desktop is one of Mac and Dogmeat - I guess to let me see Mac now and then since I am playing Jonathan and that Mac doesn't exist in his world, only Fenn's.

Glad you enjoyed the story. I think the main point was more that the Soldier sleeps between battles (by battle I mean the big life time battles) and awakens only when there is need. While this is his intial creation (meaning he was created pre-war in the FO universe) I suspect he will have many adventures across time and space as an eternal champion of Fenrir. But, for now, he is starting his adventure in the FO world :)

Almost no need of text here,... I find the images very strong by itself, that main image as a big favorite and i.m.o telling the whole story (I must admit, I knew of his background,..)

Many thanks Windy! One of my shorter stories but think the message came through very clear what I was after - even if the time this occurs was vague, which was on purpose. I wanted a dream like surreal feeling to it - a sense of mystery and ancient magic. Knowing his background also helps.

The unvarnished images and spare prose give this set a special kind of power. I have a mental image of the ancient coffin lids of noble warriors laid to rest, now covered with mosses and fallen leaves, never again called to battle.

But I suspect Jonathan will not rest eternally....

Thank you Jumarbye! Just what I was going for, the way you described how it was presented. I had a vision of a warrior of old, laid to rest until next he was needed. Deep in the woods under fallen leaves would work great. I went with the cavern of ice as Jonathan serves Fenrir the Winter Wolf directly. If he served Gaia directly then the woods would have been better. But the bowels of the Earth still connect to Gaia and has that womb idea I mentioned to Shelley (Heaventhere).

Well told and captured. It opened a new meaning for me to the old saying: "Old soldiers never die, they just fade away" -- Fade away awaiting their next call to battle.

Many thanks Cormell and yes I like that interpretation! I think I was thinking of a few versions of King Arthur I had read where a knight returns to sleep only to be awakened in time of great need.

Thank you James! The Dog may come and find him if needed. Will another person? In the past when he has slept sometimes another follower of Fenrir, the Winter Wolf, might come to waken him. Sometimes Fenrir himself will. Perhaps in a rare case a stranger may hear rumors of the Soldier and seek him out in times of trouble. I could almost see Piper doing that :)

As I told Kes this is more of a glimpse into the future. For now Jonathan is alive and active in the Commonwealth - as he begins his mission to defeat Fenrir and Gaia's enemies.

Reminds me of birth in some ways and death in others, like he now just waiting for the time to be reborn. Amazing shots Jon!!

Thanks and an insightful observation. The breaking of water before birth. Water is tied closely to birth and renewal. He goes to sleep, entering the womb (cave filled with water), and sleeps ... renewing himself ... and then when it is time the water will break and drain away as he awakens once again to take up his duty to protect Gaia, the Earth.
