Nice, seeing this brought back memories. I wrote a paper on Rime of the Ancient Mariner using the music as a back ground for the class. The only time I ever received a "A" in English class.

Time to Run To The Hills with The Trooper to free The Prisoner from The Powerslave in the castle Where Eagles Dare and join the Nomad in Transylvania to get to The Phantom Of The Opera and be able to be Running Free again in the fields of Paschendale without Fear Of The Dark.

Well, being The Seventh Son Of a Seventh Son, I live Back In The Village at 22 Acacia Avenue -where I witnessed some Murders In The Rue Morgue, which is just around the corner- and me and Charlotte The Harlot invite you to hear The Duellists read some Rime Of The Ancient Mariner excerpts which will send your Aces High like a Flight Of Icarus and make you feel like Alexander The Great Caught Somewhere In Time fighting To Tame a Land like it's A Matter Of Life And Death at Two Minutes To Midnight, where Nothing Else Matters, but that brings us into Metallica territory...

i always thought about Iron Maiden and their music and lyrics more to a rock opera. And those awsome guitar solo's.

      My favorite
The only place where you can dream, living here is not what it seems.
Ship of white light in the sky, nobody there to reason why.
Strange World with old leadsinger Paul Di'Anno not to be forgotten who sang the two first albums Iron Maiden & Killers

Yeah. Saw Maiden with DiAnno a couple of times in 1980 (Reading Rock Festival in England and Heavy Sound in Poperinge, Belgium, 1980, replacing Judas Priest) and again as openers for Kiss in Vorst Nationaal in Brussels. Saw Maiden with Paul again at Reading in 1981.

Out of all the bands to emerge around that time (Saxon, Def Leppard, Quartz, Holocaust, Tyger Of Pan-Tang, Praying Mantis, Angelwitch, Avenger, etc) they were the ones with the most distinct, unique sound. That sound wasn't there anymore with Bruce Dickinson, although that was largely made good on by his voice.

i had the chance to see them in geel ,rock festival. But sadly after Bruce was away from the band with the new leadsinger, realy even do not know his name. But still was incredible to see them for real and see that huge Eddie on the stage. Last tour last year i missed them ,had that bike accident ,dang it, hope not for the last time they will tour and keep going on. They getting older to. My favortie albums are the first two, the sound of that was amazing. Still Iron Maiden was always there for a big part of my live and still is.

Blaze Bailey. I always thought Maiden should re-record the Blaze albums with Dickinson on vocals.

that would be awsome if they did that. Not like his voice. I was happy when they started up the band after they stopt with that amazing magic show that one after one died and left the band with bruce as last one falling on a sword. I cried... but when i bought the new album i was dissapointed becuase the sound that Iron maiden always had was gone, not with instrumental part but i always found the voice not fit with the history of the band and Bruce as following up leadsinger. I got the whole dicsografy but never listen to them.

I had a short listen to the first release with Bailey, but quit a few minutes in. Sounded dreadful and not like Iron Maiden at ALL...

Much later, I found an unnamed, untitled song on a stick with music my ex brother in law gave me. It was Bruce Dickinson singing but I didn't know the song. I have Iron Maiden's and Dickinson's solo complete discographies along with that of Samson (Bruce's first band) and I for the love of me couldn't find the song.

Then, finally, I had a listen to the Blaze recordings and there it was: Lord Of The flies. I listened to it (with Blaze) and didn't like the song at all, but with Dickinson on vocals it got a whole new dimension and even a better melody. That's when I said "damn, these guys should re-record those albums with Brucie"...

i remember standing in the record shop looking between albums. Already being tainted by my big brother 7 years older then i am with the 70's rock music. And i saw that album, the only one in my little village were i lived,'Powerslave'.
