"Back in Blender"

BEHOLD! I went back in blender! WITH BETTER TEXTURES!

So while watching the old FO3 Gatling Laser, I had an idea to modernize while still being retro, and that is making a Gatling Laser on the Flamer anims, so it's basically a big-ass laser-rifle, somewhat mirrored, and the core goes where the cell is supposed to. What is different right now is that I learned how to bake in blender. First texture was super cartoony, as I realize that the texture generation I followed was just for Blender, not so much for Fallout 4. And that is where I asked Shiagur to tell me how to texture, and so I did. Still pretty bad tho, but waaaay better than before. Another problem I faced is the improper topography -- yes, I am also bad at making meshes.

I chose the shape, for the reason that it is rather easy, it is after all just a long block of rounded rectangle, funnily enough I still screwed it up (look at the core slot). Boolean ruins the topography lol, AVOID IT LIKE THE PLAGUE! I probably should just have made it two geometry overlapping each other, than combining them into one.

The magazines are there, for the reason that I have to put the backpack somewhere, and so I chose it there, besides they look like the minigun right? The twin-pillars are obviously the original FO3 backpack, but the hex-capacitor drum is actually inspired by the RCW tommy-gun like laser-gun, I simply changed it up. Their functionality was fun to come up with, but a bitch to implement. The Incendiary Barrel turning from Incinerator to a short-ranged flamer was hard to come up with, while others are just basically shotguns of different degrees. The Null, or "no-controller" is basically just no capacitor, so what do you think will happen without an external capacitor that controls the fire-mode? Then it's basically just single-shot.

The Standard Barrel is easy enough, it's just a massive Short Barrel of the laser-gun, with less features (I have yet to master greebling), the 9-muzzle tho was something different as I originally intended it to be actually 9 different square barrels stacked over each other and lined up side-by side consistent with the Charging Barrels. The Charging Barrels are also kind of easy, though far from the actual Charging barrels, but close enough; it's actually the first barrel I came up with, and that I based the plan of the first Standard Barrel -- it proved to be too complicated though and there's a simpler option of making the Standard Barrel just a big short-barrel. The Gauss Barrel is actually inspired by the Gauss Shotgun far yonder at the Appalachia (FO76), since after all it's a shotgun, but also it can be a volley-gun, a mitrailleuse that it fires the dozens of barrels sequentially into something close as a gatling-gun. And the Flamer Barrel is essentially inspired by the Zap-Gun Flamer barrel, also with less features. The lenses are actually simple, I just made them glow -- work smart right?

The Legendaries were fun to make. The quirky quotes, based on Borderlands, was actually pioneered with my other mod at the backburner, it got out here simply because it was finished first.

The Recharger Cannon is obviously a call-back from the Recharger lasers of FNV, I turned them orange just because it just fits, it really just does -- the orange beam is also used with the Enclave laser; it's quote is based from the Arc Reactor quote by Yinsen, yes remember it wrong, it's supposed to be 50 than 55, but I wasn't going to update the mod just to fix that small stuff. The Arc of the Covenant is actually more of a reference to the Raiders of the Ark first, than the actual Ark of the Covenant of Jewish folklore with it being found buried in the Glowing Sea (I wanted Forgotten Church, but it's already with Unreal Rocket Launcher so I put it in Hopesmarch Pentecostal Church, that you also have to go through against ghouls), and the melting part; although, it's also interpreted as "Arc of God" as being the most powerful Laser Cannon, but the "Covenant" just sounds better. The Zoltraak-47 is yes, a reference to Frieren the anime, or rather Fern, with it's extra projectiles firing a saturation attack like that when Fern fought Ehre and killed her (not really) -- it also has Blue laser like the Institute ones so it still looks like Zoltraak, so you still have access to barrels other than the Gauss. The Red Queen's Gambit is both the Chess move, and reference to the Red Queen in Alice in Wonderland, and so it's special effect is that it's head-seeking.

Another thing I learned is that, DON'T. UPDATE. THE. TANGENT. SPACE. ON. NIFSKOPE. IT. RUINS. THE. NORMALS.  (Normals BTW is the direction that the faces projects on your mesh.) Though after talking to some authors like GRY, you technically can when the normals are baked with the texture -- I didn't baked it on mine.

What does this say about my future in modding?

Can't say lol, I do what I want when I want it -- mostly as an impulse, but now I have the means to make my own stuff, and pester other authors less. I got some projects in backlog, but I can't guarantee output. But I do think I can be better eventually, but first I will suck, that is just reality.

Shout out to Spadey tho, the one I collaborated with the Unreal Rocket Launcher. Now the dude made the Shoulder Mounted Machine Gun -- yes, that gatling gun from FNV. The dude certainly have a bright future in modding.

"with Spite"?

Pardon my hostility, but it's not really just the dude specifically, but it's a string of many assholes that I had to face in my career as a mod-author, into a boiling point. But this one struck me particularly, as the first one -- my first taste of entitled twats.

Well, the story goes waaay back. It's not something I have proof on since it's all gone, but it is something I can remember quite clearly. I uploaded the Double-Barrel Overhaul as a standalone when I was still doing the first Weapons Overhaul series. Out of nowhere, this fuckwit, the entitled-prick-formerly-named-as-Aryck-The.One (because the dude changed name), complained about how over-designed my mod was, and how the dude is irritated with such mods. If you don't see what happened there, the dude acted so entitled, as if that the dude is irritated by the fact that I released something the dude is not approved of -- it's like I needed the dude's permission! So like, just don't download it?

The irony here is that, the dude himself basically begs for mods. And what reminded me is this dude that I had a tirade with on the comment section of Degenerate Dak's video, which I suggested for the dude to try and make his own -- he was defended by other idea-guy, as something that what they can only do.

And then this person contacted me in nexus (when it happened on YT), citing that "you don't like me, I don't like you" crap so we should just ignore each other. But see, I dislike the dude for his bad behavior -- the dude dislikes me for calling him out for his bad behavior. To frame it as if there's some common ground, or mutual understanding, I find it utterly fucking audacious.

So why the hate?

> Imagine this, you make a mod, pour your heart out on it, and a user cites how unimmersive your mod and has to publicly tell everyone how it is such, and that the dude won't be using it - what a fucking diva.
> Imagine pouring your heart out on something, and some critic says "in dire need of immersion", so maybe it's not for immersion? Do you complain to every Thomas-the-Tank-Engine mod ever?
> Imagine experimenting a proof of concept -- the Peppermill Crank-Gun, a cranked gatling-gun using the laser-musket anim, and then a user criticizes you for experimenting, as if you have to crank out the next hyper-realistic AK or something.

So while you can imagine these, I had to experience these FR. I understand that we have our own preferences, but for fuck's sake, maybe don't be a sour-puss over what other people likes?

You probably think nothing of it, because you only have to use the mods. But we as the authors has to deal with this -- Pig's KS23 rechambered for 25mm Grenade, criticized because it's supposed to be 23mm, and somehow the extra imaginary 2mm of this imaginary gun bothers this person. Yes, it's imaginary, it's just a game, it's virtual, it's pretend. You can just as well rename the 25mm to 23mm, and basically get the same effect -- and if it's that easy, then why bother? Why not just retain the 25mm and play?

An xbox user "wishes" your mod that is somehow "not a complaint", that it's smaller, and to do so is to take out the entire point of the mod -- to take out the grenade-launcher thinking it's what make the mod large -- this dood by the way tried to school me with how to mod, despite not modding himself, citing other modders that have done things, citing "the code of things" as if it's all just coding. And when he didn't get what he wanted, he made a stink about it with two videos, and a comment how I was the scum of the earth in Degenerate Dak's video, where I found the dude in the first place. If you know so much about modding, so why aren't you modding? Even if I took out the grenade-launcher, the mod would be nowhere near his target file-size of 150mb, because the mesh, script and associated texture is actually pretty small.

I can see why some of my contemporaries doesn't bother with XB1.

I understand that I am not really professional as people expect, that I could be just letting these not bother me, to let them go -- and I don't. But that's the point, we mod-authors are just human, not some eldritch horror or divine entity, we're nerds geeking out on the game we love by that which we know how, and we uphold the modding community by creating mods that which we like and we share, we too deserve basic consideration.

I hate these entitled pricks, for the reason that not only they don't contribute to the community, they have the audacity to put you down when you do. And this dedication, is my defiance against these people.

My mods might not be the best, or as good as the COD ports next-door, but they are better than none.

"If you can't find it, make it yourself." That's how it came about I started modding - albeit I'm just an amateur. For things I cannot do I've come a long way by asking politely.
This is well written. I wish more people would see it. Though they'd probably be those who agree in the first place anyway. Haters will be haters........

Do onto others how you would like to be done, or something like that. Ive always appreciated you guys, the modders, working their butts off trying to fine tweak things so they dont break the already feeble code of games, specially Bethesda ones, gods know those are held with thoughts and prayers.

I support you, i came here, specially cuz i saw your mods and got curious of all the comments on this sonuva, boy i dont regret reading this, you shouldnt be forced to hear every single Karen or Kevins or whatever trying to push their ideas onto ya, do what you please and wish, in the end its a game, have as much fun making the mods as you would have playing with it!

Amen Brother. More people should read and endorse this. I'm not a Mod Author... yet maybe anyway. I got ideas and a lot of experience modding, patching and staring at xedit, nifscope meshes and script files.. but I digress. So, I emphasize with you and other MAs every time I read these entitled twats messages on posts.

I dont remember my comment history, but i think i used to be an idea guy before actually trying to make mods. I'm not gonna say im a modder, because ive done basically nothing, but trying to learn the trade has given me a better perspective on modding. hope you dont run into any more "idea" guys in the future!
