There is a lot going on under the hood and it's best if you experience this for yourself. but if you're on the fence and think the I just threw in a bunch Raiders with different colors or that some of them are too tanky im about to explain why that is not true.
I highly suggest not reading this if you just started playing the mod as everything im about to say is already explained in personal notes found on hunters and observation through the mod.
Ok, when I first started this mod I had to strike a balance in an RPG that has added uncontrollable mods that anyone could use. I had to make a group of people that was challenging to all types of players. so I tried to make each hunter counter play styles but I didn't want them to be too powerful so they all have counters and weaknesses. but from what I have noticed and I should have expected is that people just unload on them and say they are "too tanky".
HACKER- has a shield that has 5000 armor for energy and ballistic. they also have the ability to hack nearby pipboys to reduce vats hit chance by 65%. they come with a dish like gun that ignores armor and shuts down power armor temporary. They are defensive and tend to hang back taking a few shots and staying out of the way. most players ignore them as they are hard to kill and do little damage.
so, tanky right? wrong. they have a low HP and rely on their "inverted stealthboy" shields. what most people miss is that they wear a pip boy just like you do. if you do enough damage to it the shield goes down, they lose the hacking ability and take electrical damage from the tech. The shield blocks no melee damage and is also dropped by EMP grenades.
BLADESMAN- fast and agile they close the gap with melee weapons and throwing knives that stagger. they have a 1/3 chance of disarming your weapon and using your favorite gun against you. they tend to hit and run and like to flank the player by striking at the back forcing you to expose your back to another hunter. very reflexive and tends to dodge a lot.
you can counter the disarm by preparing yourself for melee combat. as long as you have a melee weapon or fists they can't disarm you. they would rather dodge than block so taking an aggressive melee approach is ideal.
Charger- Heavily suited up they usually have over 300 armor and like to charge in with a shotgun that staggers the player. aggressive and forcing the player to deal with them so other hunters can do their thing. 2% of their armor counts as "damage reduction" that shaves off that number of damage off of each bullet the armor takes. this allows them to handle small caliber auto weapons easily.
however, anyone that can see enemy resistances can determine all that metal comes at a price. energy weapons cut through a chargers large health pool with ease.
Sniper- Like you can guess the stay in back behind cover with long ranged single shot rifles. their shots ignore a chunk of armor to get through all the armor you stack. extremely accurate and can aim for the head, they tend to flush out campers.
what a sniper can't do however is hit a moving target. sniper cone of fire increases by 250% on moving targets. at close range, they will usually pull out whatever melee weapon they have on them. that could be a good thing or bad.
more to come...
