Okay so a bigger description of the mod along with myreasoning: This mod tries to change Jun and Marcy to the versions ofthem I had in my head. These two could have been two of the most interesting
NPCs in the whole game if treated correctly. Sadly I am not skilled enough to
bring my vision to life but its fun trying to do what I can. So lets begin with age. This relates to this mod and all myfuture mods as it really bothers me. Why is everyone so old?? Laws of nature,
in an apocalyptic world flooded with radiation and full of Raiders, super
mutants and the like, not to mention no hospitals, vaccines etc. life
expectancy would be low, very low, do you think these people are getting cancer
treatment or flu vaccines? Low life expectancy means people getting together
and having kids earlier. Between my skills and Bethesda's rules on children not
being able to fight or protect themselves (I'd like my friends on Xbox's to be able to play this) I have to settle with just making
older people look younger to fit into my vision of what it should look like -
Hence I've tried to make Marcy and Jun look younger. I think Marcy worked, Jun
still needs a lot of work. (Before anyone asks Kyle would have been 5ish or
that's what i thought reading Jun's terminal, so in my eyes it still works) Appearance - The Long's survived a Gunner attack thentravelled the length of the commonwealth and apparently got dirty?? They may
just be civilians but listen to them, there's no way they let their kid go down
without a fight. Their mental wounds are massively on display but why not their
physical wounds? I fully believe they'd have fought to save their son and I
want people to be able to see that. Their current states shouts more of two
people that fought and failed than ones that never tried. Voices - I actually Liked Jun's speech, slowly showing signsof dragging himself back but not being able to cope. I saw him as more than
just running a pharmacy, he was the closest thing to a doctor Quincy had. Being
a health care worker myself I've seen how people that deal with death and
illness all the time can react when something finally pushes them over the edge
(Like seeing your son killed) Jun reminds me of a lot of people I've seen,
hence I haven't changed any of his dialogue. Marcy on the other hand needed a
lot of editing. I think most of her dialogue at the start comes off better just
by her being younger, less mature and being able to see the physical evidence
of what she's been through. Considering what people think of her it wasn't hard
to go through her lesser used dialogue and splice together a number of softer
comments. Marcy should have been brilliant, another mother that lost her child
(if you played as Nora, if not she could have shown your dead wife's anger and
desperation/need for vengeance) instead we got a generic spout of terrible
comments regardless of how you played. What I've tried to do is stop comments
like the "Hole" one if you complete certain mission (Would have
preferred it based on settlement happiness but I can't find the right equation)
and allow her to become more self-reliant and friendlier if you deserve it. I'd
love to be able to keep her sarcastic nature but make it friendlier and still
keep the anger but directed at others. Sadly though outside of new voice files
I can't see me ever being able to do that. Backstory - If you’re still reading this I'm sure you canimagine I have extensive backstories for these two. At the moment my only
changes are to Jun's terminal in Quincy that introduces Marcy's father and
elaborates a little on what they saw but I'm hoping for a lot more in the
future. Planned ideas include more information on Marcy's father and why she
distrusts the Minutemen, plus did Preston know her father? Was Mama Murphy's
vision a self-fulfilling prophecy? Why did they trek all the way through the
most dangerous parts of the commonwealth instead of heading into Diamond city,
Bunker Hill or even Good-neighbour? They passed them all? And most importantly
what actually happened to Kyle? We all know he died but how? When? Finally skills - When Raiders are knocking at your door andyou have a very angry and vengeful young woman screaming at you, why not give
her a gun and let her vent? If I was a ace programmer I'd have had Marcy's
character arc mirror the player themselves. Starting off weak and relying on
others, then after meeting you, someone that understands her and gains her
confidence she'd become like you, however "you" played the game.
Sadly I'm not, so instead I've given her skills so that if you force her to
hold a gun and fight she'll be bloody good (though reckless). That's kind of
the way I always thought her anger/depression should be going (Think Sasha in
the walking dead after her brother dies (I know comparing Marcy to Sasha will
get me killed but don't worry my own friends and family will do that if they
read this so you don't have to)). As for Jun I want him to be a special settler
if you put him in charge of a clinic, like Doc Anderson. This one I really do
expect to learn how to do and hope it will be added soon. In the meantime just
putting him in charge of a clinic is a good idea for his character. He will be
a professional doc and appear fine when working but then go back to his
depressed state the minute he leaves which is so realistic for his condition.
