BLENDER 2.49B:
 
-- Opened the Vanilla HUMAN Head NIF in NIFSkope
-- Export .OBJ from NIFSkope
-- Imported into Blender Project File, you will see its close to the center of the grid. (This is good)
-- Reset the co-ordinates of your Custom head mesh, so it is 0,0,0 coordinates. But still at the same place (i.e. at the top, where the head mesh is originally supposed to be)
-- In Object Mode, I set it to:

  • Z-Axis: -12.087
  • Y-Axis: +0.088
^^ This is to align it to the Vanilla Head OBJ mentioned previously.
-- Once it is perfectly aligned, press SHIFT+C to Center the 3D cursor.
-- Then select the Custom head mesh, and clicked the "Center Cursor" button which is in the "Mesh" section under the "Editing (F9)" Panel.
-- The coordinates of the Custom head mesh should now be back to 0,0,0.
-- Then move the Custom head mesh back to its original place:
  • Z-Axis: +12.087
  • Y-Axis: -0.088
-- Then finally export it.

-- Then imported the Custom NIF exported from the previous step
-- Added the Smooth Modifier (with a setting of 2) to the mesh. (Place ABOVE THE Editable Mesh modifier, otherwise Max will crash) -- This is to retain the vert count.
-- Gave it the proper BSSubIndex Settings (with the updated list -- https://www.nexusmod...t4/mods/28326):

-- Copied the Vanilla Head's BSSubIndexTriShape Flag value: 14 into the Custom Head NIF.
-- Copied the settings of Vanilla Head's BSLightingShaderProperty to Custom's NIF. (Face Tint, Material Name, Shader Flags, Wet Material, Smoothness, Specular Color)
-- Sanitized the NIF:
  • Spells > Sanitize > Reorder Link Arrays
  • Spells > Sanitize > Reorder Blocks
-- Save NIF. At this point, the NIF will be disappearing when zooming in Creation Kit.
