    The great thing about Fallout 4 is that guns don't break; this was my favorite gun in New Vegas, but it was made of paper. I can't wait to see this amazing piece of work in action in the future!

    Nice! This looks close to release too.. well, minus the textures and animations (assuming this will have custom animations).

      Ah, unfortunately not haha. This is the high poly version (I use the conventional high -> low bake workflow, which means this is the 'quality' or unoptimised model, and I'm about to start the game-ready optimised model that will have the high poly detail transferred or 'baked' onto it. The LAER will have custom animations.

      Correct, and nowadays it makes sense to grab other information from the "high", such as curvature (a map that "detects" edges), ambient occlusion (a map that "detects" 'occluded' or shadowed areas) and position (aids in other things such as adding dirt near the bottom of the object).

      Then, using certain texturing programs (Substance painter, Quixel) you can speed up the texturing process by using generators to intelligently place edge wear and dirt in crevices.

      Usually artists use this extra time to push the quality even further however. haha

    Glad to see some energy weapon love. If weapons could be mashed up the way I do outfits I would seriously want some less bulky and much better looking energy weapons (laser, plasma, and gauss).
