About this mod

The Sanctum was one of many small a research laboratories constructed throughout the capital wasteland. Originally these laboratories were intended to serve as a scientific fall back position in the event of a nuclear or biological attack. During the war, the above ground facility was destroyed, but the laboratory underneath survived.

THIS WILL MOST LIKELY BE THE LAST UPDATE v2.52 - 8/18/12

Due to a computer virus I lost the most complete version of this mod. I was able to recover some of my lost work from a backup but this setback and Real Life issues have forced me to put this project on hold indefinitely. For that reason I am uploading the sum of my surviving work. If anyone would like to continue this mod, please contact me.

NOTE: The Playing God quest remains incomplete at this time, however I have worked to rebuild the lab functions, research field kit, and replaced the textures wiped out when I lost my hard drive. To start research, just pick up the field kit off the table in the lab. It will start the playing “God Quest” and allow you to harvest blood samples when looting from a crouched position. You will need to harvest 25 samples for each type of creature (Human, Ghoul, Animal, Mutant, Abomination, and Insect). When you have 25 of any type you can return to the lab to run tests on your samples. Click on the consol by the biohazard signs to charge the system. Then push the green start button to begin growing your tissue culture. When complete, push the red button to reset the system. There are no rewards for this, but it is fun to play with the lab. All of the ground work for the quest had to be rebuilt from scratch but I did not go back and redo the dialog for Dr. Arcade and Lazarus.

Over 200 years later, survivors from Vault 106 came looking for the facility. They ran into complications. . .

If you have Fallout New Vegas, check out my Survivalist Bunker mod as well!

Welcome to the Hidden Sanctum:

The Hidden Sanctum houses critical clues to understanding the FEV Virus, its past, and its effects on several areas of pre-war research. In your pursuit of the truth, you will build your own team of Vault 106 survivors, help construct a new settlement, deal with local threats and conduct genetic experiments on the creatures of the capital wasteland.

OVERVIEW :

This mod started out as a Housing Mod and as such still offers one of the best companion friendly homes available even if the quest lines are not pursued. When I originally uploaded this mod back in May of 2009 there were no other housing mods like it on the Nexus. While some of it's once unique features have since been copied by others, it is my hope that users of this mod will appreciate the amount of work and detail put into its development. With my return to Fallout 3 modding, the Hidden Sanctum has recieved an overhaul updating function as well as appearance.

Because I get asked constantly... (SPOILER ALERT!) To enable many of the features, you MUST repair the generator and throw the main power switch on the wall. Until this is done, there will be no lights and many devices will not work!

This Mod also introduces several new Quests!

EXODUS - (COMPLETE): Surviving the mad experiments conducted at Vault 106, Dr. Arcade and his people set out looking for a new home. Pre-War records indicated an important Goverment facility hidden in DC that might still be viable. Sadly, their inexperience with the harsh reality of the wastes has brought thier search to the brink of tragedy.

REBUILDING THE FUTURE - (COMPLETE): With the rescue of the Vault 106 survivors, a decision is made to fortify and build a setttlement around the newly discovered laboratory. Clearing away the destruction of the last 200 years reveals a tenuous path to the future. A future that can only be purchased with sweat and blood.

PLAYING GOD -(INCOMPLETE): The Forced Evolutionary Virus, or FEV, as it is commonly known, revolutionized several branches of scientific research. Cloning, Cybernetics, and genetic enhancement all became possible. However, its origin was a closely guarded secret. A secret hidden beneath the rubble of the capital wasteland for over 200 years. As power is restored within the laboratory, a Cybernetic Intelligence known as "Lazarus" awakes. With your help, it seeks to fulfill it's purpose.

HUMUNGOUS PROBLEMS - (INCOMPLETE): Raiders. Humanity de-evolved to an animal level. Animals addicted to psycho, with a craving for human flesh. Building a new settlement in their territory has put you at odds with a well organized group of cutthroats and their charismatic leader. Once again, war never changes...

MULTIPLICITY - (INCOMPLETE): In addition to Lazarus, a stasis chamber is discovered with its pre-ware occupant intact. Computer records in the lab indentify this living anachronism only as Code Name GARY.

REQUIREMENTS :

All DLC required in addition to base Fallout 3 game.

KNOWN ISSUES:

If you are updating from a previous version, and you have run the construction process a few days, you will notice that some of the static objects may be missing (cars, rubble piles). I am aware of this. As the construction process unrolls, I have scripted in the permanent removal of many of the static objects and idle markers to help those with lower end systems. This may change as I update the Mod.

Weapons appearing in the Workers hands while they are involved with construction. This cosmetic problem appears to be an issue with the game itself.

Re-Repairing the Generator after an update : See Sanctum-Storage.esp optional (Puts all the parts necessary for repairing the generator outside the Sanctum Entrance).

Third Party Mod Support : Currently there is none and I have no plans to provide any. However, if another modder wishes to take on this challenge they will have my blessing.
