About this mod

This mod is an attempt to improve various Power Armors found in Fallout 3, and bring them closer to what they were in Fallout 1 and Fallout 2, without wrecking the game\'s balance in process. New Version 1.1 fixes a bug whereby NPCs wearing Power Helmets no longer sounded like their voice was coming through the armor speaker.

Permissions and credits
IMPORTANT: UPGRADING FROM v.1.1 and 1.0:

Before replacing PowerArmorImproved.esp, follow these steps:

1. LOAD your game with OLD PowerArmorImproved.esp activated.
2. If your character is wearing power armor, TAKE IT OFF.
3. SAVE your game and quit.
4. REPLACE PowerArmorImproved.esp with the version 1.2
5. LOAD your new savegame and put on the power armor.

VERSION UPDATE

New Version 1.2 is a major bugfix:

* Fixed a bug whereby T-51b armor and helmet in some instances could not be repaired.
* Fixed an issue whereby Energy Resistance would not show up in the list of effects provided by the armor pieces.
* Removed Energy Weapons bonus from Tesla Power Armor and Big Guns bonus from Linden's Armor to prevent interface-related Crash to Desktop.
* Added 5 points of Damage Resistance to Lyons' Pride and Linden's Power Armors to represent their uniqueness.
* Removed Charisma penalty from T-51b helmet, since it represents the "familiar face of the US Army soldier".
* Renamed Brotherhood-pattern Power Armor to T-47 instead of T-45d. After some thought, this designation makes more sense (considering that the medical armor is called M/P-47a - most likely Medical Prototype 47, alpha version(?)).
* Cleaned up the ESP file structure.
* Adjusted names of some armors so that the interface sorts them better.
* Included an OPTIONAL cheat batch file that allows the player to spawn every power armor and helmet into his inventory.

RECOMMENDED GRAPHIC MODS

The following two mods VASTLY improve the appearance of T-45d, Advanced Power Armor MKII and Tesla Power Armor. I highly recommend them for better visual experience.

DETAILS

All Power Armors in the game have had their stats adjusted to make them noticeably better than the bland vanilla supplied to us by the original game.

Some armors have been renamed to match their traditional designations from Fallout canon. For example, the Enclave Armor is now called Advanced Power Armor MKII.

Armors' effects, such as degree of protection they offer and bonus to Strength have also been revised. Armors now provide protection against Fire and Energy damage, and offer much greater Radiation Resistance than before.

ALL Power Armors carry a -75% penalty to Sneak. A humanoid tank is not exactly stealthy, so if you wish to remain undetected, you will need to use a Stealth Boy.

ALL Power Helmets except T-51b carry a -2 penalty to Charisma, and the Enclave helmets carry a -3 penalty to Charisma. The helmets make you faceless and distort your voice, so it would naturally unnerve those who speak with you... and the Enclave helmets are designed to look positively demonic, which spooks people even more.

ALL Power Helmets provide a +1 bonus to Perception, and +10 Action Points, to represent the built-in targeting equipment.

Pre-war armors models, the obsolete T-47 (suits worn by Brotherhood of Steel and Outcasts), the Medic Armor Prototype and the legendary T-51b can be used to repair each other. Be careful not to accidentally scrap a unique suit for spare parts!

Enclave Advanced Power Armor MKII and Tesla Adv. Power Armor MKII also can be used to repair each other. They are, however, much too advanced to accept parts from the less sophisticated pre-war suits.

All armors "carry themselves" when worn. When you put on the suit, your Carry Capacity is automatically expanded by the amount equal to the weight of the suit. However, the suits weigh quite a bit when they are simply resting in your inventory!
