I'm still new and getting used to the FO3 mods scene and I'm positive that I've been downloading everything correctly and reading the readmes thoroughly but I still get the "Faulting application fallout3.exe, version 1.7.0.3, faulting module fallout3.exe, version 1.7.0.3, fault address 0x0048503d" crash every 8-10 minutes or so (I'm assuming this is a CTD issue). I was hoping this patch would alleviate it somewhat, but still nothing. Any input to help a struggling noob would be more than appreciated (please don't say re-install D. Also, is there a FOOK2 compatibility mod for MMM? The site's been down and I can't check.

I don't know what it is. I can't seem to successfully install this patch no matter how hard I try.

I'll start by activating the application, both the loading bars will fill and then the game will launch by itself completely unchanged. I can even hover the cursor over the Fallout.exe file and it still says it's the previous file version.

I read on a forum that it's a fault in the program and that the update can't be saved if the game launches. I read that I also need to stop the Fallout executable file from launching by ending the process with the task manager. No matter how many times I try, I can't get it to stop. I can never stop the process in time and it closes the update when I close the game. I've never been good at reflex games.

Please tell me there's an easier way to install this crap. I desperately need a game update because of problems I can't fix.

ok got a question for ya guys. im running a quad core 4 gigram vista x64 pc. i downloaded anchorage and the 1.6 patch, and the main game runs fairly ok, maybe crashing every 2-3 hours of play. yet when i finaly got to anchorage i cant go 2 mins with out it CTD'ing. so i thought ok then ill download the anchorage reward mod. (the one that puts all the stuff in a hut by beth ruins) got to the hut picked up the gear and exited the hut. i ran round the corner and killed a guy and ... CTD! Then it wouldnt even load my game. it seems like anything to do with anchorage just crashes the game...
Has anyone had this problem and what did you do to fix it? cause i love this game and the stealth armour is my fav by far! any help/ideas greatly appreciated!

PS only mod im running is the MalosNudeBodyV2.2 and the main game worked very well before anchorage. currantly reinstalling and trying differant vers of the patch (I.E. the U.S. and UK ones) also ive followed the steps advised by ElHefeSupremo.

    @ cryod278 and fellow Vista64 users:

To totally bypass default Vista64 OS security operations, three steps are required:

First turn off User Account Control (known as UAC):
    1. Open "Control Panel" application (launch from Windows shield emblem in Tool Bar)
    2. In the subsequent "Control Panel Home" window, open "User Accounts and Family Safety"
    3. Open "User Accounts"
    4. Open "Turn User Account Control on or Off"
    5. Click box to turn off UAC
    6. Restart Windows

Backing up stable old games to separate location from time to time and using Fall Out Mod Mananger Save Game summaries helps.

Hey, ElHefe, is there a way I can ask you a couple of questions about your loading instructions, above, off-forum? Thanks.

ElHeve, thanks for the advice. It helped me a bunch, in a different way. I bought Broken Steel some time ago, and just coulnd't get it to load. Recently, I added the Fallout Mod Manager and disabled the UAC, and darn if Broken Steel didn't finally load! Thanks for your help.

    6. Restart Windows

Next, DO NOT install FO3 in the default directory (C:/Program Files/Bethesda Softworks) as there are additional security routines that govern writing to "Program Files". Instead:
    1. Select custom installation, e.g. C:/Bethesda Softworks

Finally, perform all installations using "Run as Administrator":
    1. Right mouse click on file to be installed
    2. Select "Run as Administrator"

See posts by Quarn and JustinOther in their great MODS for detailed explainations

Even so, expect occasional game crashes and corrupt save game files -- the core game engine (Oblivion) has flaws which cannot be completely avoided by the causal but serious computer gamer

Backing up stable old games to separate location from time to time and using Fall Out Mod Mananger Save Game summaries helps.

I am trying to use this patch with Vista Home 64bit..Everytime I try, it gets to 13% and opens the CMD window, then stops working. I am new to Vista and all its security..What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks in advance
