Cool mod, but be warned - this .ESP file radically changes how Dogmeat's level scaling works. Normally he will scale with the player's level, but with this mod he is manually set to level 5 and stays there for the entire game. The mod author doesn't mention this anywhere.
Thanks for posting this modder's resouce. I was unable to use in my mod that I published but still use for my personal use. I love the model it looks just like my dog that passed.
Preface: I wanted Dogmeat to be a German Shepherd, and I use no other mods for him.
For those (little geniuses) who use Wrye Flash, do NOT allow it to mark the plugin (esp file) as mergeable, or the mod will completely NOT work!
The Alsatian Shepherd download file works perfectly as a stand-alone mod, with no need to shuffle texture files or use the GECK. But I'm in the habit, from years of Wrye Bashing Oblivion, of allowing Wrye to mark mergeable whatever it deemed necessary. In this case the result was a spectacular display of Nothing-at-All when I loaded my save and saw that Dogmeat was completely Unchanged. Again and again.
For those that do not use Wrye Flash, disregard. But for those that do, this issue cost me significant time and frustration that I would spare my fellow gamers!
I thank you for making the German Shepherd Dogmeat, really like the look, but I was wondering if there was any way to your German Shepherd dogmeat to work with Shaikujins_Chrome_Dogmeat_Armour sets. It looks like it may not work ? but a single nif file was in the download section, but .dds files look like they are made with the skin & armor as one, I do not see how it work with a simple .dds name change. And I'm not very good with nifscope, correcting for texture file path and maybe a few color changes here and there, but that is.
Why after Installing this mod, dogmeat became invisible and even after that he is still invisible. I also tried to start a new game but nothing to do he is still invisible. Help pliz!
Edit:Well I decided to look closely to my mod list and I realized, that I downloaded the wrong main file lol so NVM.
Thank you so much for this mod!!! I'm so happy having a unique puppy and thank you to itsnotuptoyou!! All I did was install the ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated mod and then this mod started working properly!
Also to anyone confused about how to use this mod, all you need to do is first download and install Unique Dogmeat (either version, doesn't matter) into your data folder or using FOMM, then download whatever texture you want dogmeat to have (I got the husky mod made by Maylena) and rename those files to match the ones for this mod. For example, dog.dds --> dogmeatskin.dds, and dog_n.dds --> dogmeatskin_n.dds, etc. Then you can just install the new texture mod using FOMM (say yes to overwriting the files) or replace them yourself in the fallout data folder! That's it! At first I got very confused by the instructions and thought it was too complicated, but it turned out to be really simple
The only thing Dogmeat is good for, is finding the alien ammo that falls from the sky with the weapon. After that, you should put him out of his misery.
