Description:

This house mod, created for Fallout 3, is what serves as my personal home. It has both a living space for the player, a kitchen with working Nuka-Cola vending machine, and an armory that contains storage for all your weapons and ammo as well as a workbench and crafting item storage. The Armory cell also contains a medical wing, which has a My First Infirmary and a My First Laboratory. The bedroom safe is opened with the house key.

This house should be companion friendly; I have not tested it with any companions, either stock or mod added. It is in a previously inaccessible area, and while I did add nav-meshing to that area I do not make any promises that it will work. Since I did add the nav-meshing it is POSSIBLE that enemies can follow you to the house and maybe even inside (the door is locked so the should not be able to get in, but that does not mean they can not). Personally, I do not use companions that much; the game is not so difficult that I simply see no reason to. I have not added a Mister Handy, I do not like the fact that they are always getting in my way, and do not want one of the darn things wandering around.

The house is located in cell 21, -12; when looking down the Mall from the steps of the Capitol Building, look left toward the abandoned building, there is a door near some rubble. That door is the entry to the house. Alternately, you can fast travel to the Museum of Technology, turn and run toward the Capitol and hug the right wall until you reach the door. The key is in cell 19, -9. Any mods that change the empty building on the left of the Capitol (when facing the Washington Monument) or the T intersection in front of the National Archives will likely conflict with this mod. I have told you where the key is, but not exactly. I am not going to tell people exactly where the key is, simply because there are some somewhat unbalanced items in the house, and it might not be fun for people to get their hands on them to early. If you check everything for loot and are good at picking locks you should find the key with no problems.

The included texture is the icon for the .44 Magnum, I added this icon to the custom magnum in the house; it is a modified version of the Mysterious Stranger’s magnum, so there is no scope.

Installation:
Extract the .rar file to a neutral location like My Documents. Read the readme. Move the “DesolationSmith’s Personal Residence” .esp and readme to your Fallout 3/Data folder. You may simply move the texture folder to your Fallout 3/Data folder and tell it to overwrite the existing folders (nothing should be changed, it should simply add the correct file structure) or place the folders by hand.Open either your Fallout 3 Launcher’s Data Files tab or Fallout Mod Manager and check the box next to DesolationSmith’s Personal Residence. Since the texture included is a default Fallout 3 texture you do not need archive invalidation.

Uninstalling:
Open your Fallout 3/Data folder and delete both this readme and the “DesolationSmith’s Personal Residence” .esp file and the texture file. I hope you remembered to pull all your stuff out of the house first…oops.
