Story(Non-canon of course):
The Fission Rifle was an Outcast project for a lightweight, long distance, anti-material rifle that used the Fission Battery power cells common on most robots throughout the Wasteland. After many failed attempts, an Outcast weapons developer set a Fission Battery out on his workbench where, inadvertently, he shorted out the cells. He left the room and upon closing the door, a wrench fell off of his shelf and hit the shorted battery causing a huge explosion which destroyed most of his workshop and the bathroom next to it. Very disappointed in his bad luck he then realized that his mishap was also his salvation. He set to work immediately with the idea that he should make the rifle fire the shorted Fission Batteries instead of making them a power source for a more complex laser design! He stayed in his mostly destroyed workshop for 3 days perfecting the weapon, at which point he expired, having forgot to stock his Nuka-Cola fridge before he started building. The other Outcasts, having thought him mad, took his "tinker toy" and put it in a crate which they then buried out in the Wasteland. But that was not the end of the story, as Moira Brown found the corner of the crate sticking out of the ground on one of her wanderings through the Wastes. She brought the crate back to her shop and cleaned up the rifle it contained. Being that it was covered with a lot of rust, and that it looked extremely dangerous, she put it in her locker for a later date. Now preoccupied with a ton of other projects, including the Wasteland Survival Guide, she has put it up for sale, for a decent price of course. After all, it looks dangerous.

Notes: as of v1.0 the Fission Rifle shoots Experimental Fission Charges. Both are available from Moira in Craterside Supply but only a limited number of the charges were ever made. Later versions will have a Schematic to make more charges using Fission Batteries and some other materials. As usual, the fissionriflemeshes and fissionrifletextures folders need to go in the Meshes and Textures folders, respectively, and the .esp needs to go in the Data folder. you will also need ArchiveInvalidationInvalidated if you don't have it already.
