ZERO difference in the pics. Seems the other post are correct. NOT a hd pack, same size original textures maybe with a filter ran on the image.

Sorry, but this is NOT an HD pack. NONE of the texutres have increase in detail or even resolution. It appears all you've done is add a sharpening filter to the vanilla textures.

For anybody looking for an ACTUAL HD texture pack for this game, look at NMC's pack or OJO BUENO's packs, as they are both true HD packs offering 2K resolution textures with greatly increased detail.

Imo you shouldn't bash this mod as it was released in february 2009, that's more than 5 years ago.  What video card did you have in your rig 5 years ago?  Right, in hardware terms it seems more than 15 years ago. Sure, the texture packs you mention are higher resolution, but put it in perspective time wise.  I know if I were the mod author I would feel sad about your comment, it's due to comments like this that I don't release my work and keep it for myself, so put things in the right perspective and show some empathy before you judge.

I didn't even say anything overly offensive or bad, just telling it like it is. Also, NMC's first texture pack, from way back in 2008 I believe, used 2048x2048 sized textures and again, this was in 2008, a year before 4aces released his. Properly done textures don't take up massive amounts of memory and cards from that time period were definitely capable of running 2k textures without much issue.

And if you can't take constructive criticism or criticisms of any kind, then you are probably better off not making your mods public.

Really? It's actually just upscaled vanilla textures with a sharpening filter?

That's pretty disappointing, there doesn't really seem to be any major texture packs for FO3 aside from NMC...

Yeah, avoid these if you're looking for a truly improved, HD pack. NMC isn't the only pack out there, but his work is probably the best in terms of consistency. Ojo bueno has done some textures for objects and things of that sort which are excellent quality and up to 4K resolution, however, it's not a global pack. There's also the UHQ terrain pack, I personally use his roadway textures as they are 4K res and highly detailed compared to NMC's pack which are 2K but blurry.

Personally, I'm using a combination of textures, a few from UHQ, quite a few from Poco bueno and the majority of them from NMC's Fallout NV pack. I recently discovered that NMC's NV pack is of higher resolution and quality then his FO3 pack. The NV pack is largely the same, however, the NV pack is double the resolution and are generally of better quality. I've had to alter texture color for some of the textures to match FO3, but nothing major. That's the only way to go if you want the best possible textures for this game, imo.

You have to use 7zip to open the first files, then put the .001, .002, etc together in a directory. After you have all of the parts together, unzip the .001 file using 7zip.

It looks like you just resized the original textures and ran filters over them. There's no real increase in detail, it's just a modified image.

I'm not really against this practice, it can definitely help, but you should probably use different enhancements. Sharpening a good deal and correlated RGB noise after a resize usually yield the relatively best results.

Downloaded weap/armor files 1-5 and applied them to the game. I couldn't really tell a difference in anything and I thought I had possibly made a mistake with the install, so I re-installed and still nothing seemed to change. So I viewed some of the dds files, to me they look like the vanilla textures scaled up, and slightly re-colored, the only thing that I found noticeably changed in game was the hunting rifle stock color and the texture almost looked worse. I hope I'm doing something wrong here, I'd really like to use this pack.

      @chechens,

"They look like upscaled vanilla textures"

That's because they are upscaped vanilla textures.

    Okay Guys

ANYONE HAVING PROBLEMS ON HOW TO INSTALL!!!!!:

Technically you have to double unzip.
1.-Open the zips and extract each ONE By ONE
    2.- You will have files ending in .001 , .002 , etc.
3.-Open ONLY the .001 and extract in your main folder
    4.- PLAY AND ENJOY

I would like to use this, but it is just so confusing. It would help A LOT if you gave us actual directions or a video tutorial. I am wondering if the final outcome of all the files excluding the DLCs are worth it...
