Pretty hard mod as it says, bunch of chinese soldiers patroling and some bosses you need to defeat to get the key or something It is recommended to get companions because most soldiers were a little bit tanky and swarming, just like the remnants
My own trigger event for this: There should be a trigger or event when you start a new game to avoid going to the "Chinese Vault" earlier (like make the chinese vault inaccessible first), and after you complete Operation Anchorage and exit the outpost, this adds a very old automated note (around 2077 or something) congratulating you for completing a simulation and tells you that some buildings have infested by chinese spies and soldiers (as there was some pre-war chinese detection sensor still activating) and adds a pin point of places were chinese resides(Mama Dolces or any mod that has remnants), that includes the "Chinese Vault", after exiting the pip-boy, a message will say "The pipboy detects establishments infested with Chinese Communists, but there is one that has catch your curiosity, a pre-war vault that was just south in Megaton" and thats were the Rat-Trap begins and you can enter the said door after that
EDIT: I guess I was wrong with my Headcannon lore.
Only bug I encounter on this is: 1.) Bunch of whats suppose to be flags were turned into a bunch of textures 2.) Chun Li should be inside the jail but she got out before opening the vault, its like the AI of hers desperately trying to get out
Edit: after the quest, there is no way to hire Chun Li and she is running around on the wasteland and worse, getting killed by a bunch of Enclave Forces (I activated MMM [which spawns Enclave Deathclaw Alpha and Enclave Mutant Enforcer] and BOS & Enclave [a mod which puts BOS & Enclave all over wasteland after the quest "Waters of life"] )
Excellent mod! I just discovered this mod and gave it a try and I had a great time. I had no problem finding the location thanks to the added map marker. I set the difficulty to hard and I am very impressed with the amount of enemies and the difficulty and I really liked the option to use some new companions and to be able to set them to essential like in Fallout 4. Having my companions die on higher difficulties in Fallout 3 was always very frustrating making you not want to use them so having an essential option is excellent. I found no bugs in this mod and Chun Li and Killer are cool new companions. Thanks for this nice job!
Early 2023 review: This time my review will be based on my past playthrough back in 2013, so keep this in mind, I can't give actual information about compatibility with recent patches or new expansions. This mod, also like a quest project "The Secret Of The Mole Rat Maze" was one of the first mods that I used with Fallout 3. Even in not very heavy plugins load-out, this new location-dungeon was left in buggy and unpolished state. Some parts of the scripts stages didn't work properly, dialogs with potential companion didn't activate and optimization of Chinese bunker is really bad. Overall, it was great to go all gun-blazing against remnants in long forgotten facility. Design of the dungeon felt appropriate and immersive, and new background story is lore-friendly in every way. Be prepared and grab your best gear because it's not gonna be a "walk in the park" type of quest. Even on normal difficulty, the amount of hostile enemies is enormous and there's no room for slow exploration and admiration of new environment. But the technical aspects of the mod is really a "trap" for potential players that will eventually encounter many bugs and CtDs. Should you try this mod in 2023? With deep appreciation for the work that was done for this mod, I can't recommend "Rat Trap" to every user with high risk of compatibility and bugs problems. In my playthrough I couldn't properly finish the questline, so the only way to exit facility was by using "tcl" command. It's really a "use at your own risk" case for mods like this. Let's be honest, this "remaster" really needs another remastered or remake version to fully experience all content in playble from start to finish state. No endorsement from me this time, but only for many technical issues.
Good stuff. Massive vault, I couldn't find the girl companions items, so she sort of broke in regards to being a companion along with killer, but I don't mind.
A very objectives didn't update, mainly the finger on the screen and the door to the girl companions room. But the quest cleared upon leaving so it was fine
This is epic! Just played this last night. My girl Kim is a Chinese girl along with Sydney, it was kind of ironic watching them mow down Chinese soldiers. Oh and they were tough, really tough.
Brilliantly made, great story, great characters and a fantastic shoot-em-up experience. Also, the Chinese was accurate [I currently live in China and can speak Chinese]. Just one thing, Chun Liu wouldn't follow me into the vault at the end, she just stands at the entrance of the tunnel and talks about waiting for Ming. Even if i have defeated him. Perhaps that was because I had Sydney with me and there was conflicting AI paths?
Regardless or those minor details, I can thoroughly endorse this and will be a permanent feature in my load order.
If you make it to the strong room (accessible starting from the "Upper Level" door opposite to the reactor room), you will get the unique alien blaster Firelance, and a gattling plasma. The gattling plasma seems functionally merely an autofiring plasma rifle, with quite a long of initial delay (Killer wields such a weapon too), with the skin of the gattling laser. In the strong room will be a Fat Man too with a lot of Mini Nukes. You might have to jump to facilitate squeezing through the boxes, behind which the secret door to the strong room is. Another unique weapon will be the Dueling Sword Of Fire (Dam 50 with +20 fire damage), obtained during the boss fight.
Probably one of the most brilliant mods I've ever played, absolutely endorsed. Simply a vault a bit to the south of Megaton, filled with the remains of the chinese army, with brilliantly chosen background chinese music and bless-our-heavenly-leader wall posters, and personnel yelling at you in chinese if you piss them
The whole atmosphere is just awesome, and the chinese identity of the vault is absolutely convincing. It's a real pity this hasn't be updated since 2010, as there are a few issues. As I see, the comments are relatively scarce and quite old, so here's a few "fresh" experiences, might help somebody if stuck or puzzled about what to do...
So: - Chun Li, the locked lady. I couldn't figure out how to release her so I just continued with the quests, i.e. proceeded towards handling commander Ming. At one point, Chun Li just appeared out of nowhere, spent some time with me and then went back to her prison cell. Only later did I find that I didn't search one dead body, with the key to her cell (it was security officer Wu, I think). But this doesn't matter, it doesn't break any quests and I already had a companion anyway. - When I got access to the "Strong room", I just could get past the boxes as the passage was too narrow. I simply opened the console and used the tcl command and the quest was finished without problem. Only later did it occur to me that I did have a backpack but I've never seen it restrict my movement... Anyway, I've already uninstalled the mod so I can't try... - As I approached Ming's office, I was in a big room with loads of supersoldiers. Having taken care of them, I just could get to Ming because the "Balcony door B" wouldn't open. Anyway, from the big room I just used tcl to get up to the balcony, and proceeded to Ming from there. - Having taken care of all the quests, two of them were still open, related to Dr Chu. In some old comments I see it was a known issue... I had no idea where Dr Chu is/was so I just decided to leave the vault and call it a day, when I bumped into Chu's body meters from the entrance to the vault. It was enough to examine it, pick the note with the last words and that was it - ALL the quests were correctly finished. - Chun Li and Soldier X/Killer did leave the vault as my followers (correctly as intended by the mod, as I understand)
Once again, this was one of the most pleasurable experiences in FO3/FNV ever, usually I don't go just shooting my way through a vault but here it was pure joy And despite a few odd situations, it is possible to finish all the quests. Throughout the vault I had max framerate of 60 fps, with a notable exception of the room with dogs where I'd get something like 15 fps and huge stutters - luckily, if you have Animal friend perk the dogs don't attack and it takes about 5 seconds to go through that room...
being able to understand Chinese makes this mod even more fun, the "custom" audio has nothing to do with the subtitles, making the audio hilariously out of place.

i am using "setav aggression 0" so they wont attack me and "tgm" not to die.
would love this type of mod to make them friendly and crush capitalism and right wing together.
