Just a caveat for downloaders, the fix used here vastly reduces the bitrate of the mp3s resulting in very low quality, there are better fixes around if you search for them.

Anyone know if this will fix the problem of the default radio stations not playing at all, or just playing voice clips? If not does anyone know a fix that will fix it? It doesn't effect regular radios just my pipboy radio.

I know that nobody's commented in a while, and I hope this doesn't break any rules... But I'd like to say thanks for making the radio work properly. I'm not sure what others' issues are, but I installed this and it was choppy for, like, half a second or so right after a game load, but it corrected itself almost immediately. So, I suggest that if you DL this and it doesn't seem to work, give your compy a chance to FULLY load the game. Just because the loading screen has vanished doesn't mean it loaded everything. Sounds weird, but it's true.

Running Windows 7 64-bit with an ASUS Xonar DS sound card, i7 processor 3.4 and a GTX 590 with 2GB GDDR5 RAM, 16 GB of RAM for my system.

I really think that Bethesda just screwed up royally while coding how the radio works in the game, and never cared to fix it. After playing Fallout New Vegas for a long while, and coming back to Fallout 3, I realized FONV doesn't have this issue at all. Apparently Obsidian decided to fix the problem.

Also the MADFilter thing works just as well on my system too. Some people have freezing when they enable alchemy.

Enabling Creative ALchemy for the game worked great for me when every other thing would not. Any Creative users just google it to find the right registry path to tell it. Interesting that a game designed for 7/Vista would use EAX sound as it's basically been disabled for everyone but Creative users with ALchemy. I use a Creative Audigy SE btw for anyone wondering. They are cheap like $20. Just use the Daniel_K drivers or the control panel is butchered.

i have a problem, if someone knows how to fix it please send a private massage to me, the problem is:
GNR and other radio stations such as Enclave radio don't show full songs, the songs simply... turn off while they are playing, but the news and massages from three dog and the president work just fine, the only problem is the songs, can this be corrupted audio files? Please tell me!

    Pixelated's solution worked for me.

All other radio stations and dialogue were fine except for Three Dog's station. His songs were choppy and distorted at times.

Installing OpenAL smoothed out my choppy radio station music. Problem solved.

Tried installing ffdshow, installedcodec.exe, MADfilter, and this mod fix--did not solve the problem.

    My specs:

    Windows 7 64-bit version
Fallout 3 Game of the Year edition (all DLC installed)

Blackchaos87 (go to control panel, programs, default programs. click on associate a file type or protocol with a program. set .mp3 and .ogg to windows media player. this fixed the audio issue for me.)

This sounds ridiculous, but it actually worked. From all the hints, this was the one who did the trick.

    Win7x64 + all dlc's patch 1.7

    shame on you Bethesda!
