im having troubles with the texture not appearing the way it should be the colors are random and it doesnt look at all like the pulse rifle in the pics. i dont know how to fix it.

Besides it's not a part of the wasteland unless your getting shot at by it! Maybe instead of having some lying around make an Enclave boss have it- then at least You've earned it. Weapons like that aren't just "lying around". I hate when other modders spend a huge amount of time making a weapons mod then just unload them in a box outside 101 like its from Robosanta- lame. The first pulse rifle I ever got in F2 was just lying around in the Brotherhood of Steel bunker in San Francisco.
Which is in addition to the Advanced Power Armor and Plasma Rifle and Pistol and plenty of ammo that was just lying around in Navarro and the Quartermaster let me stroll out with less than a minute after entering the base.
So yeah, this stuff IS just lying around, canonically.
A suggestion for fixing the VATS damage bug while still having a better visual effect:
1) Download the YK40 Pistol mod: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3128 2) Extract the textures (maybe also the meshes), specifically the projectile NIF files (pulsepistolprojectile) 3) Modify the ESP (non-explosion version is easiest) by going to the YK42 projectile, and pointing the graphic to the YK40 graphic. 4) Create an Object Effect (weapon enchantment) that does whatever you want (I have EMP + a mild electric shock to non-robots). 5) Go to the YK42b weapon object and use the above enchantment.
With this you have the YK42b dealing proper damage in VATS, a good projectile graphic, and EMP + electrical damage to the target (works for me through FOOK).
Hopefully the author here can ask the YK40 creator for permission to use his projectile graphic and create a version for download.

I would suggest just using the beam, and to make up for the explosion being gone you could add electrification (or whatever you call that effect the robots have when you hit them) to show up on humans and animals as well.
But hey, it's just a suggetion. I don't know anything about modding anyway. x_x;
