About this mod

It\'s the Headsplitter 3000 Sniper Rifle. Previously seen in S.T.A.L.K.E.R., accurate, powerful and balanced with a few idiosyncrasies.

Permissions and credits
Sniper rifles - we're really after a one-shot kill, aren't we? I mean; isn't that the whole point?

But - we want play balancing too. Not some uber-weapon where you can just blithely run around the wasteland terminating anything at will.

Ladies and gentlemen - Arcus Industries is proud to present

The Headsplitter 3000

Realised due to your diligent collaboration with Moira of Megaton, this rifle icorporates radioactive elements abundant in the wasteland.

An expanded firing chamber which sadly encroaches on the magazine housing releases a tiny jet of isotopic gas from a miniature particle accelerator extracted from a mini-nuke.
This speeds and superheats the standard .308 projectile resulting in greater range, accuracy and damage.
There's usually no dismemberment as the round normally passes through and through, melting organs on the way (unless you have the Bloody mess perk).

On the downside though, it carries less ammo - 3 rounds only - due to the larger firing chamber.
It's significantly heavier - the extra parts and lead housing, you see.
It takes more action points in VATS - the computerised accelerometer needs a fraction of a second to calculate trajectories etc. when in VATS Auto Mode.
And - most significantly of all - due to the sheer heat generated while firing, this awesome weapon deteriorates quickly.

Ideally - the wasteland sniper would be proficient in repairing - I'd even go so far as to recommend Neclipse's brilliant Cross-Repair Mod V1-2 http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1838 . I know I use it.

It waits for you on your bed in the Megaton house.

Installation:

Copy the .esp file to your Fallout3/data directory.

Also, if you haven't already done so (you have to do this for all mods)

open the fallout.ini file in your documents\my games\fallout3

press ctrl-f and search for "bInvalidateOlderFiles" without quotes.

check if it is set to one (bInvalidateOlderFiles=1) if not, change to 1.

Then either use Fallout 3 Mod Manager or select the mod called "Headsplitter 3000" from the mods list at the regular game launch screen.

Feel free to modify the weapon, crediting me in your readme.
