This might be rude to ask but is this just a mod that lowers your perception? Like, I'm literally crazy, ON real life anti-psychotics and I find myself disagreeing with the gameplay here. I wouldn't describe my experience as a -1 to perception and some voices from time to time. It's quite an impressive little system of *determining* sanity, but when it comes down to the actual experience, I find it extremely lacking.
I don't think it's a lack of skill, I think it's a lack of scope. I'll see what I can do. good work, thank you for the mod.
1.6.25 edit: i've since learned that the two can/should be used in tandem, good for me lol. very fun mod indeed def recommend, hope someone does a couple voice cue's and posts an addon, would be nice to have more people whispering and/or yelling in my ears:)
Cheers for the update. I play hardcore mode and lose karma a lot, so I'm walking round fckn mental all the time looking for antipychs. Good to have another way to bring the levels down. Really loving the mod. Great stuff
Edit: Was thinking of making a patch for The GoodbadTouch where warming yourself by fire barrels could ease the mind somewhat. But I wouldn't be able to balance it right as I'm not the author and would have to ask your advice. It would probably have to be minimal and a limited amount per day to keep the challenge.
If you think that would be an idea, and have the time, let me know, and I could try something and you could choose the numbers.
I was thinking for an update, that the user would press activate and the animation you see npcs doing near a barrel would play. But haven't as much as tried that yet. Thankfully BP has added a few animation functions which could prevent a few headaches!
As is, they just stand near a fire, an optional message says health is restoring, and their hp slowly increases. If too close, they get burned and lose hp. A youtuber made a decent demo that I linked to the mod page here. You can skip til you see a barrel or fire and you'll get the idea of what it is atm.
For a patch for Mental Stability, I could add whatever the engine allows if you have ideas. But I was thinking maybe once or twice a day, if they warm up by a barrel or fire, they could reduce the insanity some amount, and maybe a ui message could say something to that effect.
Ok, yeah, I like that. I think it should be like the longer they warm by the fire, the greater the sanity improvement would be. With some upper limit, of course. For balance I think somewhere between 200 and 300 would be appropriate.
Edit: Also feel free to shoot me a DM if I can be of help with anything.
Hi, I made that patch. I didn't go with the 200 - 300 you suggested because I made it so that the user is limited to reducing 500 per day. This way they can reduce it one level per day, and then they must wait. I made it configurable so it cap be lowered or raised. If you reckon that for balance, I should lower the default below 500, I'll add that in no problem. Just thought given the there's a daily limit, it could be raised that bit more. And as someone who uses MSS, this seemed about right to me. But I'm not the author so I'll happily change it if you think it could be more balanced
I wish there were more ways to passively improve sanity.
Maybe things like an extended bedrest (like spending a few days in your player home), or a passive improvement whilst travelling with a companion at your side (such as Dogmeat or Fawkes to help you feel a little safer and give you company). As someone who struggles with mental health issues, contact with others and positive relationships can make a huge difference to your mental state.
Just some ideas. Otherwise, it's a cool mod. Endorsed.
I dowloaded it and got all the requirements but i dont see the perk ,i made a new character but still nothing,is there something else i should be doing?
Not sure what could be the problem here. Did you get a notification/corner message that said "You're mentally stable. For now." when you first loaded into the game?
The NV version has support for cigarette mods. Do you think you could add support here for this cigarette mod? https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/24889
I downloaded and activated this mod in the middle-game (to be more precise in the Zeta DLC) and it suited the situation perfectly. Once FO3 is finished, I'm gonna test the NV version.
