About this mod

Desolation isn't a flora mod that aims to beautify your game, or make it realistic. This flora only emboldens the imagery of a world that hasn't had the chance or good fortune to recover.

Washington D.C. suffered irreparable damage during the Great War. The total bombardment of D.C. and its surrounding areas left the landscape scorched and scarred, with vegetation barely clinging to the brink of life. Mutations run rampant, and the bleak world has only gotten darker due to continuing warfare. Not even clean water is a luxury here, and Desolation reflects that. Desolation isn't a flora mod that aims to beautify your game, or make it realistic. This flora only emboldens the imagery of a world that hasn't had the chance or good fortune to recover. Even the toughest, most durable trees struggle to survive in this new world, and when they do its hardly a pretty sight to behold. With charred bark and a mutated rusty brown veneer, it's a miracle these trees grow at all.

Currently this mod replaces all trees in Fallout 3 except for hardwoods. I do plan to replace these at a later date but haven't been able to come up with anything I'm happy with, so I figured it'd be better to release what's already finished and update sometime in the future. That being said, the vanilla hardwoods are retextured and blend nicely with the new trees.

This mod should be compatible with TTW out of the box, minus the plugin file which is not required. This mod was created using TTW and the screenshots are from TTW as well. I have, however tested this mod in Fallout 3 to ensure it does work. This will at some point get rolled in to a bigger flora mod, but for the time being there's no point creating an individual TTW mod page on the New Vegas nexus.

Simply drag and drop the files into your games "Data" folder, or install with the mod manager of your choice. Please keep in mind that you WILL need to regenerate LOD for the best visuals. I personally use XLODGen. You must enable the "Allow Double Sided" option for the LOD to look correct in-game.

It's also worth  noting that tree LOD in Fallout 3 is pretty broken. If vanilla tree LOD is sticking around, I recommend Tree LOD Bug Fix alongside Desolation Flora.

While not required, I heavily recommend using this with Rustic Grass. It can be seen being used in the screenshots and matches the tone of Desolation Flora perfectly. I also beleive it to be one of the most tonally accurate and well made grass mods for Fallout 3 and New Vegas in general.
