*** UPDATED DESCRIPTION AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE***
IF YOU WANT TO PLAY FO3 WHILE STAYING FALLOUT LORE FRIENDLY, THIS IS NOT FOR YOU
So, while playing the game for the 1st time in 13 years, I thought about being able to use mods for the first time. I found a mod that got rid of the Green Environment lighting that was everywhere in the game (I like to see everything clearly), then I got mods to change the textures of the NPCs, I also got the grass mods. I started thinking back when I played this 13 years ago and I thought of removing the radiation from every place in the Capitol Wasteland.
So I did! I used GECK to remove all RadiationMarkers in the game, except for 4 of them. They were tied to Quests and I did not want to break the scripts on them. All of the markers removed include all DLCs (I can't think of anyone that would not have all the DLCs or the Game of the Year Edition in 2021). I did this for me when I couldn't find one that removed them from everywhere. I only found No Interior Radiation Mod by metalman21, and he chose not to continue with his mod. When I was removing the markers in GECK, I was thinking that I was still going to have to use his mod. To my surprise while looking over the Use Info window in GECK, it included the Interior Cells.
There were a total of 514 markers in the game, now there is only 4. I have not tested this yet, but if anything is wrong, I'll make updates. I don't see any reason why it would have issues since none of the markers removed had anything attached to them. I want to add that while the markers are removed, the game may still think that there is radiation around you and give off the Geiger Counter sound. I may remove those sounds in a future update when I have time to root around GECK again. I'm also thinking on removing the radiation from food and water. I also don't think that the removed markers touch any of the water locations, I'll find out when I go in game and then I'll update the description.
Download Manually and place the Data folder of my mod into your Fallout 3 folder.
Download the Mod Manager version and install it that way.
Uninstall is the reverse of what you did.
IF YOU WANT TO PLAY FO3 WHILE STAYING FALLOUT LORE FRIENDLY, THIS IS NOT FOR YOU
So, there is no Geiger Counter sound because the Radiation was successfully removed. Though, there is Radiation in any body of water. As I stated before, when I have more time, I will root around GECK and see if I can remove it from all bodies of water (which includes puddles of water).
