Hello, how to make it work with Vanilla Plus Gui? when i overwrite xml file from this mod, i get an error in the game, vanilla shows red screen saying that files were overwritten
For anyone wondering in 2023, the standard tools are now: - ChaiNNer, a very configurable and easy to use batch image processor and upscaler - models like 4xUniMix-Restore, 8xBobMeBoy, or 4xPSNR, available on upscale.wiki - SVGco.de, to create high-quality SVGs - GIMP, Paint.NET, Corel Print Shop Pro, or Adobe Photoshop for manual retouching
I asked the question around 5 years ago, when I didn't have much of a clue about this stuff. Thanks for answering my question, even years later (I had forgotten about this altogether), or giving me a better answer than whatever OP used.
This is a Fallout 3 mod, it's not compatible with New Vegas (specifically stats_menu.xml). However, if you have Vanilla UI Plus installed for New Vegas then delete stats_menu.xml from this mod and overwrite it with VUI+'s one. It will work then.
The new version of VUI+ has been uploaded. It contains a recommendation for High Quality Pip-Boy Icons both in its readme and its Nexus and ModDB descriptions and no longer requires a patch for High Quality Pip-Boy Icons.
Great work. I'll consider grabbing this for New Vegas. And I can confirm that mipmaps are useless for UI stuff, so it's good that you didn't include them.
a question: i know new vegas is based on fo3 and i already used some texture mods for nvin fo3 nexus: is this workin all right with nv? cuz i never modded fo3 (just bought it 5 sec ago xD) and dunno if the icon path for this is changed
There are a fair few that are specific to NV, but most of the icons in 3 are still included in NV, so this would cover I'm guessing maybe half of the icons in NV.

For an example of what happens when no retouching is done: Vault Boy Interface HD - Inconsistent Pipboy Icons
Same stuff, but automated color matching/"Regularifying": Semi-Regularified Pipboy Icons
Below, an example of the upscaling process, with retouching:
