It’s as simple as changing the caliber in FO3Edit

You don’t need this for TTW, it uses the hunting rifles from NV which are already in 308

your mod is amazing but the only thing i want to know about your mod is if you could put the id of the unique hunting rifle and its ammo.

You can use FO3Edit to look for the ID

Hey idk if you're still active or not but was wondering if you had fixed ol' painless and the compatibility with WMK or not :)

I'm pretty mediocre with FO3edit so I couldn't do it myself unfortunatly

The .32 Rifle Bullet used on vanilla Hunting Rifles is x2.5 more powerful than regular 5.56mm Bullet used as projectile in this mod.
Vanilla hunting rifle can fire a total of about 667 rounds, from full condition before breaking. Your rifle can fire only 476 shots before breaking.
So, instead making the rifle stronger, you actually made it weaker despite the increased damage.

Tried the .30-06 version... while it makes the ammo, it doesn't set the hunting rifle to use it. The rifle itself still uses .308 ammo. :)

Having spent years in rural Virginia, I can state fairly certainly that I've never seen a hunting rifle use a .308. However, the .30-06 was quite common. However, I can see using the .308 in the game as there is no .30-06, and the .308 is closer to it than the .32, so I approve. You might consider a Caliber version that uses the .30-06 as that's one of the rounds added by it.

In case you're curious, the other weapons I commonly saw during hunting season: 20 gauge shotgun, .22 rifle (for small game), and the 30 gauge shotgun (for smaller birds). Most of my friends were hunters, and the standard technique they used was to drop a bunch of dogs (between two and three dozen) on one side of a wooded area, start them through the woods to drive EVERYTHING toward the other side, hop back in the truck(s) and drive around to the other side of the woods, wait for the animals to appear, and shoot every last thing that appears (other than the dogs, of course). All Hail the Mighty Hunters! >_>

In rural Virginia, every hunting season was an excused absence from school.

If you want me to make .30-06 ammunition for the hunting rifle i could do that. i can also include 30-06 is some leveled lists as well.

That would be nice as an option that doesn't require Caliber. You could duplicate the .308 ammo and make slight changes. Caliber is nice because it adds a bunch of ammo and add them to all the lists. Does all the work for you, but if you don't want a bunch of extra ammo, making your own is not that hard. :)

By the way, your WMK patch doesn't work... it CAN'T work. You made new entries for the modded hunting rifle when you should be overriding the existing WMK modded hunting rifle entries.

I made a 30-06 version and it does not use CALIBR. Could you explain in a bit more detail as to why the patch does not work?

You need to copy the entries from WMK for the hunting rifle mods AS OVERRIDES rather than as new entries. WMK knows nothing of your new entries... it knows about ITS entries. You make overrides into a new esp, then modify those records for 308 ammo and damage. Very easy to do in FO3Edit - I made my own WMK-308patch.esp in about three minutes.

I first noticed your mod didn't work when I upgraded my hunting rifle with a scope and it went back to using .32 ammo. I looked at your wmk patch and you weren't overriding WMK, so when you made a mod, it used WMK's modded hunting rifles. So I made my own patch with FO3Edit.

One other thing - the hunting rifle (and most other weapons) is modified by FWE. Guns in general are more deadly, and the FWE hunting rifle does as much damage as your 308 mod does, which means it should be even higher for FWE. I altered my copy for FWE, making the damage 60, which is more than FWE's hunting rifle, but still less than the sniper rifle. I made the silenced FWE hunting rifle (in my own WMK-308-FWE patch) 50.
