Upgrades all sniper rifles of the wasteland, Ol' Painless, and the Gauss rifle from the Operation Anchorage DLC.

  • Now features a scope. New texture and mesh provided by Floydman1 (http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/5640/?) This scope has 3.75x magnification.
  • Deals 5 more damage for a maximum of 35
  • Critical chance increased by 2.5x (base critical chance is 25% instead of 10%)
  • Critical hits now deal x3 damage instead of x2 (deals 105 damage on crits)
Reservist's Rifle
  • Added a suppressor to the front of the weapon. Direct copy from the Silenced 10mm Pistol.
  • Replaced the firing sound with that of the Silenced 10mm Pistol. Sounds pathetic but at least it's not loud.
  • Change the detection level from normal to silent
  • Scope zoom increased to 7.5x magnification
  • Deals 65 damage per shot, 62.5% more than normal snipers
  • Firerate reduced to 0.75 attacks per second
  • AP cost increased to 52 (was 32 before, 38 is normal AP cost on snipers)
  • Reduced critical chance from 50% to 20% (base critical chance)
  • Increased critical damage accordingly with normal damage (130 damage on crit)
  • Maximum spread changed from 1.0000 to 0.1000
Victory Rifle
  • Increased scope magnification to 3.75x
  • Deals 50 damage per shot, 25% more than normal snipers
  • Critical damage increased accordingly (100 damage on crit)
  • Magazine increased to 6
  • AP cost reduced to 28 per shot
  • Fire rate increased to 1.6 attacks per second
  • Slightly increased critical chance to 35% base from 30% base
  • Maximum spread changed from 1.0000 to 0.2500
Gauss Rifle
  • Increased scope magnification to 7.5x
  • Increased damage to 110 per shot
  • Removed the on crit explosion effect (causes numerous bugs in VATS and when trying to deal full critical damage while sneaking)
  • Consumes 2 microfusion cells per shot
  • Magazine size increased to 2
  • Simulation version of the rifle still only consumes 1 microfusion cell per shot and has a magazine capacity of 1
  • Crit chance reduced to 25% (was 50%)
  • AP cost increased to 72 per shot
  • Crit damage increased to x2 normal damage (standard crit multiplier) and now deals 220 damage on crits
  • Increased value to 1999 from 500
  • Note that the Gauss Rifle is still very buggy and can randomly misfire. This mod does not fix the weapon.
Sniper Rifle
  • Increased fire rate slightly to 1.3 attacks per second.
  • Scope magnification increased to x5
  • Maximum spread changed from 1.0000 to 0.2500

Change Explanations
I changed all weapons mentioned above to better fit the "sniper" role. In Fallout 3 the sniper rifles are not as impressive as some would hope, especially the unique versions. These changes turn the unique snipers in game into true rifles that are impressive in many ways.

  • The Victory Rifle is now a mid-range knockdown tool, being able to keep enemies down with semi-reliable crits
  • The Reservist's rifle now is a stealth weapon, slow firing but very deadly especially with sneak attack criticals.
  • The Gauss rifle is now a BFG. It deals ridiculous amounts of damage but consumes ammo quickly and is very slow to keep firing.
  • Ol'Painless now is an actually decent upgrade, though not as powerful as the other snipers due to its lower caliber and power of its ammunition.
